People, Purpose & Planet: Embedding Circular Economy & Sustainability Into Social Enterprise

WASEC invites you to a panel, Q&A and networking afternoon where you will hear from WA social enterprises who are kicking goals in the circular economy & sustainability space.

Listen to start-up stories, pick-apart greenwashing, identify barriers and opportunities in the sector, meet like-minded people and gain tools and resources to help you embed sustainable practices into your social enterprise, small business or everyday life.

The Panel kicks off at 4:00 leading into an interactive Q&A. Stay for drinks and snacks as we watch the winter sun set over Perth City Farm’s beautiful gardens.

Research, evaluation and impact frameworks in dynamic social enterprise settings

Join the network fusing theory and practice in social entrepreneurship!

In this month’s talk, Kate will share STREAT’s impact measurement journey over the last 13 years. She will also describe how Moving Feast approaches M&E and impact measurement across an emergent ecosystem of activities.

Each month we hear from thought leaders straddling the theory and practice of social enterprise – then facilitate inclusive and open discussion with a global audience.

It’s a place for safe and brave conversation of real, lasting impact.

Bringing Diversity of Thinking to Transformation Leadership Teams

On 30th May, Digital Transformation Perth will host an extra special event for our local business and technology community. We’ll be taking over Riff’s Town Hall with a packed evening of conversations from not one, but two panels.

These panels will feature not only transformational leaders from Perth, but also a special guest who will be joining us virtually from Norway: Whynde Kuehn, Founder and Managing Director of S2E Transformation.

In this night of two halves (bridged by our usual pause for drinks, food, and networking), our first panel will tackle the question of why we want to drive diversity in transformational leadership.

With evolving methodologies, no cookie-cutter approach for transformational leadership, and no single greatest role model to emulate, this is an area deserving of our attention. We need leaders who bring different perspectives and practical approaches. We can achieve this by supporting diversity of thinking, backgrounds, experience, and capabilities. But how do we inspire the growth and inclusion of leaders who will bring this diversity?

Our second panel will introduce us to one example of how we can support diversity in our leadership. We are excited to share that this session will mark Australia’s public launch of global initiative Women in Architecture (WIA).

WIA was created to accelerate the pathway for women in architecture to amplify the impact of the discipline worldwide. WIA is a community based on a spirit of personal growth, open exchange, mutual trust, and helping each other.

This promises to be a dynamic and inspiring event, so we hope to see many familiar and new faces alike on 30th May!

FKUP Nights Perth X Bloom X WASEC: Youth Special

A global movement and series of events where stories of failure are shared. Each month, at events around the world, we get three or four people to face a room full of strangers to share their own fuckup. Stories of businesses that go bust, partner deals that fall out, products that have to be recalled, we tell it all.

Why Fkup Nights? Because with #peakstartup, a 90% failure rate, and all the talk of motivation and positivity, there’s something missing.. talking about failure, and learning from sharing stories of failure! Free your failures, Perth will thank you!

HOW IS IT DONE?

In every Fkup Night 3 speakers tell their failure story explaining:

What was the project?

What went wrong?

What did they learn?

What would they do differently?

Join Bloom, WASEC and Fkup Nights Perth for a special youth focused Fkup Night at Bloom Curtin. Get in quick before tickets sell out!

Each speaker tells their story in 10 images followed by Q&A. At the end of the speakers’ stories, attendees are welcome to stick around and network over drinks. Previous Fkup Night speakers have varied from social entrepreneurs, tech founders, and even a doctor who a few years ago opened an adult shop that went broke. Just so you get an idea, Fkup Nights is something between a party and a casual business conference 🙂

All proceeds from the night go to a local Social Enterprise. This event supports Hello Initiative.
