This year’s focus is on exploring the evolving landscape of data science in Western Australia and the pivotal role it plays in shaping our future. \nThe event will begin with a welcome address from Professor Andrew Page\, Pro Vice-Chancellor of Research at UWA\, followed by a position statement on the state of data science in WA from Dr. Parwinder Kaur\, Director\, DNA Zoo Australia\, Founder & Chair\, WA Genome Atlas. \nOur keynote speaker\, Professor Michael Small\, will reflect on the achievements of the Data Institute and share his insights on the future of data\, in his address titled “Artificial Intelligence and Authentic Information.” \nThe afternoon will conclude with a Sundowner and networking session\, providing attendees with the opportunity to connect with industry professionals\, academics\, and data enthusiasts. \nDon’t miss this opportunity to gain fresh insights and be part of the conversation about the future of data in WA.

DESCRIPTION:You are invited to the Centre for Business Data Analytics (CBDA) Industry Partners Conference\, to hear from speakers regarding our theme “Analytics and AI” as well as where our current cohort of Master of Business Analytics students will showcase their extensive work with industry as part of the BUSN5007 Industry Project Presentations. \nThe conference is scheduled for 18 October from 10:00AM to 6:00PM and will include academic papers in the morning (10:00AM to 11:30AM)\, an industry panel discussion in the early afternoon (1:30PM to 2:30PM) and the main event is the Industry Partners’ project presentations by our student teams in the Master of Business Analytics program (3:00PM to 5:00PM). Coffee and refreshments will be provided in between the morning sessions. Lunch will be provided in the afternoon. Drinks and canapes will be provided at the conclusion of the event from 5:00PM to 6:00PM. He has worked extensively with social purpose organisations\, businesses and government departments in establishing their outcomes measurement and reporting frameworks \nLisette Kaleveld\nLisette is a social researcher who has worked on research and evaluation projects conducted in academic/research contexts as well as for the not-for-profit sector\, as a public servant and as an independent consultant. Lisette has led a significant number national\, state-wide and locally based evaluation projects as the principal researcher/team leader\, and has undertaken capacity building projects including facilitating training\, tools and frameworks for community development officers to measure the impact of their work in local government. Lisette’s\nevaluation experience spans the mental health sector\, education and disability sectors. Lisette is convener for the Australian Evaluation Society (WA Branch). \nDr Mariana Atkins\nMariana is a human geographer and planner and has been involved in conducting various evaluations and research projects at CSI UWA. Her area of research is around ageing\, homelessness and vulnerability and policy and planning responses to address this. Employing qualitative and quantitative research methods\, Mariana has extensive experience conducting process and outcomes evaluations focussing on vulnerability Lisette is a social researcher who has worked on research and evaluation projects conducted in academic/research contexts as well as for the not-for-profit sector\, as a public servant and as an independent consultant.
