Come along for a mid-morning catch-up where you can enjoy getting to know other members over a fresh cup of coffee and bite to eat. \nThis event is free for members\, however RSVP is essential for catering purposes. \nFor non-members\, this event provides an ideal opportunity to experience first-hand what it’s like to be a Spacecubed member. Tickets\, priced at $20 + GST\, not only grant access to the networking breakfast where you can connect with our current members\, but also include a full day of coworking\, allowing you to experience what it’s like to cowork out of one of our vibrant spaces. \nWe hope to see you there!

SUMMARY:The 7 Hardest Lessons I Learned Starting a Non-Profit
DESCRIPTION:Details\n\n\nJoin us for an insightful journey with Rahul Seth\, about his journey up to being named 2023 WA Volunteer of the Year\, and the creation of his meetup Activate Mental Health. \nDate and time: November 8th\, 2023\, 5pm-6:30pm \nPlace: Riff (The Vault) @ Spacecubed – 45 St George’s Terrace\, Perth. \nWho should attend? \n\nPeople aiming to start up an organisation\, whether that would be a for profit or not-for-profit entity.\nThose passionate about mental health and well-being.\nPeople who are open to networking and meeting like-minded people.\nPeople who like to hear a feel-good story.\n\nWhat you will gain: \n\nAn insight into the challenge of building an organisation from scratch.\nUnderstand the need to put your health and well-being first before your entity.\nLearn why word of mouth is the strongest form of marketing you have available.\nFind out the importance of networking and mentorship.\nGet practical tips about obtaining feedback and insights into the work you produce.\n\nWhy attend \nAre there similarities in starting up a for profit business or a not-for-profit organisation? Although they are both different forms of legal entities\, they still face exactly the same challenges to become groups that are both self-sustaining and that can effectively serve the communities that they aim to engage with. \nActivate Mental Health is a 7-year-old entity that has been built from the ground up that is changing the landscape of Perth’s mental health sector. Through the provision of fun\, volunteer-led peer support social activities\, the group has helped a large number of people to reduce their social isolation\, make friendships and engage in activities they enjoy\, leading to improvements in their mental well-being. \nActivate Mental Health currently has over 20 engaged volunteers who run over 300 events annually across Perth for its 5\,500+ members. This\, remarkably\, is all done on a budget of $4\,000 per annum\, which is completely financed by three loyal small businesses. The group is progressing to become a registered charity in this current financial year. \nHear from group founder Rahul Seth about the 7 lessons he wishes he had known before commencing on the journey to building a game-changing organisation that is making a true impact in the community. \nBiography \nRahul Seth is a Chartered Accountant and founder of Perth’s biggest mental well-being support group\, Activate Mental Health. The organisation was formed in 2016. initially as a way to have some fun and make new friends but has now expanded into an entity that is on the verge of becoming a registered charity. Rahul professionally works as a NDIS mental health support worker. In May 2023\, Rahul was named as the 2023 WA Volunteer of the Year for his contributions to the not-for-profit and mental health sectors.

SUMMARY:Startup Weekend Perth #19
DESCRIPTION:Startup Weekend is a 54-hour whirlwind event where you get to be part of building a business in a weekend\, Silicon Valley-style. It’s about pitching\, business model creation\, prototyping\, designing and market validation all in a friendly and supportive team environment. \nHow does the weekend work? \n\nFriday – We kick off with some networking\, before inviting anyone with an idea to ‘pitch’ it back to the audience. Everyone votes on the top ideas\, and teams organically form.\nSaturday & Sunday – Teams work on this new idea\, and experience the highs and lows of startup life as they try and build something from the ground up. We throw in a heap of caffeine and food – and see what ideas come out the other end!\nSunday Night – Pitch time! Teams share their ideas and a winning team is crowned\, and prizes are awarded.\n\nWho can attend?\nAnyone. Whether you’re 18 or 88\, a painter\, actor\, software engineer\, writer\, graphic designer\, geek\, entrepreneur\, photographer\, musician\, programmer\, museum curator\, or startup specialist. Whether you have an idea\, or have no idea. Everyone is welcome. \nWhat will I get out of it?\nThe professional and personal challenges\, the high and lows\, the failures and the success. \nWhat does my ticket include?\nAn awesome weekend with great mentors and facilitation\, Friday night dinner and network\, all your meals and snacks on Saturday and Sunday – and a pitch event on Sunday evening with drinks and network – all included! \nStartup Weekend is a global grassroots movement of active and empowered citizens who are learning the basics of founding startups and launching successful ventures or products. Whether participants found companies\, find a cofounder\, meet someone new\, find a creative collaborator\, or learn a skill far outside their usual 9-to-5\, everyone is guaranteed to have a heap of fun\, and to leave the event better prepared to navigate the chaotic but fun world of startups. SUMMARY:Bringing Diversity of Thinking to Transformation Leadership Teams
DESCRIPTION:On 30th May\, Digital Transformation Perth will host an extra special event for our local business and technology community. We’ll be taking over Riff’s Town Hall with a packed evening of conversations from not one\, but two panels. \nThese panels will feature not only transformational leaders from Perth\, but also a special guest who will be joining us virtually from Norway: Whynde Kuehn\, Founder and Managing Director of S2E Transformation. \nIn this night of two halves (bridged by our usual pause for drinks\, food\, and networking)\, our first panel will tackle the question of why we want to drive diversity in transformational leadership. \nWith evolving methodologies\, no cookie-cutter approach for transformational leadership\, and no single greatest role model to emulate\, this is an area deserving of our attention. We need leaders who bring different perspectives and practical approaches. We can achieve this by supporting diversity of thinking\, backgrounds\, experience\, and capabilities. But how do we inspire the growth and inclusion of leaders who will bring this diversity? \nOur second panel will introduce us to one example of how we can support diversity in our leadership. We are excited to share that this session will mark Australia’s public launch of global initiative Women in Architecture (WIA). \nWIA was created to accelerate the pathway for women in architecture to amplify the impact of the discipline worldwide. WIA is a community based on a spirit of personal growth\, open exchange\, mutual trust\, and helping each other. \nThis promises to be a dynamic and inspiring event\, so we hope to see many familiar and new faces alike on 30th May!
