SUMMARY:Integrating nuclear generation into the Australian electricity grid
DESCRIPTION:The introduction of nuclear power generation is shaping up as a real possibility in Australia.\nMethods of integrating new nuclear generation into a grid with existing coal\, gas\, wind and solar PV generation are discussed with reference to both engineering and economic issues. Identifying feasible long term optimum generation mixes using all generation types beyond 2050 are addressed. Economic analysis focuses on total delivered costs to customers including generation\, storage\, transmission\, distribution\, rooftop solar PV and behind the meter batteries. \nLearning outcomes\n\nhow to develop optimum long term generation mixes of nuclear generation with gas\, coal\, wind\, solar PV and storage to deliver low cost electricity for Australian electricity customers\nhow to utilise nuclear generation to minimise the new build of transmission and distribution networks\nunderstanding the importance of considering total delivered electricity costs to customers including distribution networks\, roof top solar PV and behind the meter batteries.
