SUMMARY:Translating Molecular Science to Practical Application: Water Sustainability in Mineral Resources
DESCRIPTION:In this seminar\, we will explore several examples in which molecular level insights from spectroscopic and/or computational studies have been used to guide modelling of metal ion sorption in water treatment processes\, predict ion-pairing in membrane systems\, and describe metal(oid) processes in contaminated sediments in mining impacted lakes. Through these examples\, we will demonstrate how increased understanding at the molecular level can guide contaminant remediation and treatment options.

SUMMARY:Tour – CSIRO Energy Innovation Labs
DESCRIPTION:Tour the energy labs at the Australian Resource Research Centre. \n\n\n\nCome check out the ground-breaking energy innovations and meet the researchers behind the science as we tour the energy labs at the Australian Resource Research Centre. \nThe tour will include three laboratories: \nGeomechanical laboratory: a world class research facility that undertakes Geomechanical testing of core samples for science in the Energy sector. \nMonitoring with fibres: a laboratory developing technologies to monitor and verify that the CO2 is permanently stored in the subsurface. These technologies rely on sensing instrumentation deployed on the field either at the surface or underground. \nCCS research virtual reality: CSIRO’s WA-based energy team is at the forefront of researching methods for direct air capture carbon capture\, carbon use technology\, storage and monitoring. Go behind the scenes and meet the scientists working to discover how these technologies can contribute to a low carbon future. \nDon’t miss out. The tour is limited to 40 people. \nFree parking available

SUMMARY:AusBiotech: WA BioCheers with CSIRO
DESCRIPTION:We are excited to bring you this Western Australian networking event\, in partnership with Australia’s national science agency CSIRO. BioCheers brings together AusBiotech members and non-members in the life sciences\, including therapeutics\, medical technology (devices and diagnostics)\, digital health\, and agri-biotech sectors. These informal networking events provide an opportunity to catch up with friends and colleagues\, share ideas\, build relationships and make new contacts in Western Australia’s vibrant biotechnology community. \nDrinks\, nibbles and the venue are being generously provided by our event partner CSIRO. \nThe health and safety of its Members is of utmost importance to AusBiotech. This function is being held in compliance with current State Government COVID-safe guidelines. Registrants are to stay home if they are unwell or have a cough\, fever\, sore throat\, fatigue or shortness of breath. A full refund will be given to those who have purchased tickets if they are feeling unwell and can no longer attend.
