DESCRIPTION:Innovate to Grow is a free 10-week virtual\, self-paced learning program for small to medium enterprises (SMEs) to investigate new R&D opportunities related to the plastic and recycling sectors. \n\n\n\nThis program is open to businesses working in one of the sub-sectors listed below. If you are not sure if you fit into one of these sub-sectors\, please reach out to our program coordinators. \nThe course provides tools and information to help you better understand what’s involved with R&D and key things you need to consider at each step of the process. You’ll be able to apply this knowledge to advance your innovation journey. \nProgram detail\nCSIRO has a goal to reduce 80 per cent of plastic waste entering the Australian environment by 2030. The Ending Plastic Waste Mission is intended to support a sustainable plastics circular economy to reduce detrimental impacts to the environment\, while delivering economic benefits. You will also be exposed to industry knowledge\, hear from innovation and industry experts and have access to networking opportunities with researchers and R&D mentors. \nSmall and medium sized businesses (SMEs) play a key role in advancing recycling and plastic solutions. This program is open to Australian SMEs currently working in plastics or recycling\, or those working in other areas looking to offer new technology or solutions that could be applicable to these sectors. \nThe program will help you refine your innovation idea and step you through how to turn this into a research and development opportunity. You will also be exposed to industry knowledge\, hear from innovation and industry experts and have access to networking opportunities with researchers and R&D mentors. \nIt’s a great opportunity to work alongside other like-minded SMEs and build your networks. \nCourse outline\nThe course will help you to: \n\nidentify your innovation opportunities\nrefine your value proposition\nunderstand the R&D viability\nbuild your business case\nlearn how to prepare a strong funding application.\n\nThe program is made up of virtual webinars and self-paced learning as follows: \nPreparing for the program (week commencing 28 August 2023\, approximately 2 hours)\n\nParticipants will be provided with an on-boarding session\, pre-workshop videos\, materials and questionnaires to assist in preparing for the program.\nTime commitment is approximately two hours.

DESCRIPTION:The FHRI Fund Distinguished Fellows Program (the Program) aims to attract outstanding and innovative world-class research leaders (the Fellows) to WA\, who will lead a substantial and high-quality innovative research program. \nFellowships are being made available to international or interstate senior research leaders\, appointable at academic Level D or E professor\, or equivalent clinical level (for clinicians in health care disciplines including allied health and health sciences\, dental\, medical\, nursing and midwifery professions)\, to relocate to WA and undertake a significant program of research. \nUp to three Fellows will be provided with an attractive 5-year funding package consisting of salary support for the Fellow as well as other research personnel salaries\, direct research funding and relocation costs. \nEach funding package is to the value of up to $5 million over 5 years with up to $2.5 million funded through the FHRI Fund. An additional $500\,000 Reserve Funding can be requested\, noting that justification is required. A cash co-contribution equal to the amount requested from the FHRI Fund must be made by the Administering Institution and can include cash contributions made by any partner organisation(s).

SUMMARY:DEADLINE: AEA Seed Grant Applications
DESCRIPTION:The AEA is designed to build a pipeline from discovery research through to commercialisation\, ensuring Australia reaps the benefits of investment in research within the university sector. \nAEA Seed grants are available to support proof-of-concept projects (Technology Readiness Level 3 to 5). Eligible applicants may apply for grants of between $50\, 000 and $500\, 000 for up to 12 months per project. Applications for the first tranche of Seed Grants opened on Monday 6 February 2023. \nProjects must be aligned with the priorities of the National Reconstruction Fund outlined on the Department of Industry\, Science and Resources website. Priority consideration will be given to projects addressing the four priority areas of: \n\nrenewables and low emissions technologies (e.g.\, hydrogen\, micro-grids\, and lithium/rare-earth elements processing)\nmedical science (e.g.\, synthetic biology\, mRNA vaccines\, and remote medicine)\nvalue-add in resources (e.g.\, provenance of rare earth minerals\, advanced minerals extraction\, data driven mining and mining automation and robotics)\nvalue-add in agriculture\, forestry and fisheries sectors (e.g.\, provenance of product\, digital agriculture\, supply chain transformation and alternative proteins)
