Presented as part of the Western Australian Planning Commission’s CoastWA program, the Coastal Awards recognise work undertaken to enhance, rehabilitate and adapt to threats and pressures along Western Australia’s extensive coastline.

This year, nominations are invited across five categories:

  • Coastal Champion
  • Coastal Planning and Design
  • Coastal Management
  • Education, Engagement, Science and Research
  • Coastal Adaptation.

Nominations close 4 pm on Thursday 28 August 2025. Winners will be announced at the WA Coastal Forum hosted by WA Coastal and Marine Network on 27 October 2025.

Play a leading role in shaping Western Australia’s coastal research and infrastructure priorities within a national innovation framework. Work at the forefront of marine science partnerships within a world-class research environment at UWA.

The WA Coastal Engagement Coordinator will play a strategic role in coordinating WA-based coastal activities within the national framework.

About the opportunity

  • You will provide strategic coordination and stakeholder engagement to identify and advance Western Australia’s coastal observational and research infrastructure priorities.
  • You will coordinate the integration of WA coastal initiatives within the national CoastRI program, a cross-NCRIS collaboration involving 13 national research infrastructure facilities.
  • You will foster cross-sector partnerships to enhance co-investment, shared use, and long-term planning for coastal infrastructure. The role also involves translating emerging science, policy, and community needs into actionable infrastructure priorities aligned with best practices.
