The Curtinnovation Awards celebrate bold thinkers at Curtin University who are creating real-world impact. Whether you’re a researcher, student or entrepreneur, if you’ve developed an idea that could shape industries, improve lives or solve critical challenges, we want to hear from you.

All ideas are welcome. Previous winners of the Curtinnovation Awards include an evidence-based bio-enhanced native seaweed solution to chronic inflammation; a real-time asset tracking system using existing camera infrastructure; and a breakthrough in synthetic graphite production for lithium-ion batteries.

This lunchtime session provides a practical overview of patents, trade secrets, and common pitfalls to avoid, followed by a fireside chat with Jeka Viktorova, CEO and Co-Founder of Syenta, on her journey from researcher to deep‑tech founder.

Western Australian Teaching and Learning Forum 2026

Co-creating the Future: Connection and Collaboration in Higher Education

In an era of rapid change, higher education faces the challenge of reimagining how we teach, learn, and connect. The 2026 Western Australian Teaching and Learning Forum will explore how collaboration, innovation, and shared responsibility can shape the future of education.

With educators, professional staff and learning leaders from across the sector coming together for two full days of connection, collaboration and shared practice, we’re looking forward to an inspiring and vibrant Forum in February.

DEADLINE: Churchill Fellowship

The Fellowship provides funding and support for Australians to travel overseas (typically 4-8 weeks) to investigate a topic they’re passionate about. The only requirement? You need to bring what you learn back to Australia and share it with others. Applications open 26 Feb 2026.

You don’t need a degree. You don’t need to be an academic. You can do a Churchill Fellowship on any topic, provided there is a benefit to Australia and your community by you sharing your knowledge or skills. You need curiosity, commitment, and a clear vision for how your learning will create positive change.
