City of Subiaco x CORE: Tech Talk

Subiaco Tech Talk lands at Quello Bar on Thursday 11 June for a one-off Lunch and Learn built for the people shaping WA’s resources future – founders, operators and innovators working at the intersection of mining and tech.

Get a behind-the-scenes look from a guest speaker (to be announced) building tech that’s reshaping the sector in WA – followed by Q&A and the kind of conversations that don’t happen behind a desk.

MRIWA Tech Talks: Mineralisation Controls in the Fraser Zone

Join us for an engaging MRIWA Tech Talk highlighting Project M0470a, a multi-scale investigation into the controls on mineralisation within the Fraser Zone—one of Western Australia’s most prospective yet least understood geological regions.

The project addresses major knowledge gaps by moving from broad orogen-scale interpretations to detailed structural, geochemical and isotopic analyses aimed at identifying mineralisation pathways and diagnostic geochemical fingerprints. Conducted in conjunction with the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA), this collaborative effort brings together leading expertise to provide a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of this complex terrain.

Our speaker, Professor Katy Evans of Curtin University, Lead Investigator on the project, will share insights from her team’s multidisciplinary work and discuss how these findings can sharpen exploration decision‑making and enhance discovery potential across the state. ]

Attendees will gain a richer appreciation of how this research strengthens Western Australia’s exploration capability, supports innovation, and contributes to long‑term value for industry and the broader community.

Site visit: Hancock Iron Ore Integrated Remote Operations Centre

Former Director of productivity Mark Ivory will lead a briefing on the operations of the IRO while providing attendees an opportunity to view the end-to-end process flow of the Remote Operations Centre. Mark has worked across the business operations and will take members through the end-to-end journey from mine planning to shipment, describing how HIO has harnessed technology, systems, automation and autonomous systems to drive a world class mining operation.

During this site visit, attendees will learn about:

  • Control Systems Integration
  • Autonomous System deployment in remote and austere environments

METS Space Cluster [online]

This Cluster brings together professionals from Space/ METS and Mining to connect, share knowledge and insights and identify pathways for future collaboration.

Join us on Tuesday 2 June 2026 for the next Cluster meeting. Featuring presentations from CSIRO and OQ Technology, the session will examine next-generation remote operations capability, direct-to-device satellite communications and the growing convergence between mining, space, automation and digital connectivity.

Attendees will gain insights into how these technologies can improve operational visibility, worker safety, connectivity and productivity across remote and regional mining environments.

AMEC Meet the Developer Breakfast

Hear directly from resource company leaders on project priorities, procurement needs and the challenges shaping development today.

The next AMEC Meet the Developers Breakfast, sponsored by ReGen Strategic and Hancock Iron Ore, brings together a panel of resource company leaders navigating the realities of advancing projects in today’s market environment.

Join senior executives from Australian Vanadium, Element 25, Lunnon Metals, Win Metals and Impact Minerals as they share insights into current project priorities, operational challenges, procurement considerations and where they see opportunities ahead.

Designed for AMEC’s service provider network, this discussion offers a practical look at what explorers and developers need from industry partners, from technical capability and innovation through to reliability, responsiveness and long-term support.

With commodity markets shifting and project pipelines evolving, this breakfast is an opportunity to better understand the pressures, expectations and decision-making shaping the sector right now.

Community Coffee – Perth – Meet the Members this June

Join CORE Innovation Hub for a coffee and a chat and meet the local Perth energy and mining ecosystem.
With World Environment Day coming up, this coffee catch up is a chance for METS, MRIWA and CORE Innovation Hub to connect around how research, skills and collaboration are shaping more sustainable mining outcomes.

Community Coffee is a great way to meet local innovators, technologists and entrepreneurs working to solve some of the big challenges. This is your opportunity to connect with CORE members and guests and find out more about the opportunities and the challenges within the sector.
