DEADLINE: Climate-Smart Agriculture Program – Capacity Building Grants Round 2

Applications for the second round of Capacity Building Grants open on 18 February 2025 and close 9pm AEDT on 31 March 2025. This round will provide up to $16.58 million over three years from 2025-26 to 2027-28.

Grants between $250,000 and $3,000,000 will be made available.

The objectives of the Capacity Building Grants round 2 are to support farmers to have better access to knowledge and skills relating to best practice climate-smart sustainable agriculture approaches.

The grant opportunity will fund projects that:

  • increase awareness, knowledge and skills of best practice climate-smart sustainable agriculture approaches
  • assist community organisations, Landcare groups, First Nations peoples and industry to support farmers and land holders adopt climate-smart and sustainable agriculture practices
  • provide opportunities, initiatives and information resources to assist the agriculture sector to increase adoption of climate-smart and sustainable agriculture practices at scale.

DEADLINE: ScaleUP WA 2025

ScaleUP WA is designed for established businesses in Western Australia seeking to scale and achieve breakthrough growth. It serves as the central hub for building capability and fostering entrepreneurial development in the region, specifically aimed at accelerating business growth and propelling innovative, growth-focused businesses to new heights.

The program runs annually for 12 weeks. In 2025, ScaleUP WA will cater to small and medium-sized businesses in three (3) key streams: Food and Beverage, Circular Economy, and GreenTech.

ScaleUP WA equips participants with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to tackle global challenges and achieve their business objectives. Throughout the program, business owners and operators gain a comprehensive understanding of the capital and finance spectrum, learning how to measure enterprise value while developing and implementing a Market Entry Strategy alongside their Transformation Action Plan.

Applications for the 2025 program open on Friday, February 14, and close on March 31, 2025.

Ag2050 Economics Symposium: Imagining the Future of Agricultural Work

Join for a special economics symposium, hosted by CSIRO’s Ag2050 initiative, about the future of agricultural labour in modern food systems.

This seminar will discuss current research around the actual and anticipated challenges for productivity, profitability, and job quality in our era of climate change, sociopolitical stress, and human migration.

The special session will be chaired by Katie Ricketts, Principal Research Scientist and Agri-Labour Futures work package lead for Ag2050.

DEADLINE: Coles Nurture Fund Round 13

Coles launched the $50 million Nurture Fund in 2015 to help Australian producers innovate and grow.  Since then, they have offered more than $36 million in financial support to 108 small and medium sized businesses.

From a zero-waste organic mushroom facility, to extending the season of premium Eureka blueberries, the latest recipients are proof Aussie farmers are leading the charge when it comes to innovation and sustainability.

Australian producers can apply for a grant of up to $500,000 to help them develop unique products, technologies and processes.

Applications for Round 13 are now open and will close Friday, 14 February at 5pm AEDT. 

CSIRO WA Food and Beverage Sector Internships Info Session

CSIRO and the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development (DPIRD) are helping businesses in WA’s food and beverage sector connect with the state’s top STEM students to undertake business-driven projects through the WA Food Industry Education Collaboration Program (WAFEC).

Through the WAFEC program your business could:

  • Gain skilled interns to work on STEM-focused projects
  • Receive expert support to scope a STEM project (if needed)
  • Access a fully facilitated recruitment process, with a shortlist of top candidates
  • Receive $2500 per student upon completion of the internship project
  • Secure additional funding (up to $2500) for student travel if they’re working remotely for a regional business
