DESCRIPTION:The Waalitj Hub provides support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people wanting to start\, grow or sustain their businesses. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn a groundbreaking initiative funded by NIAA\, the Waalitj Hub has partnered with the Australian Institute of Management Western Australia (AIM WA) to design and develop the Indigenous Joint Ventures Workshops to provide Indigenous entrepreneurs with knowledge and strategies to deliver better outcomes for themselves through commercial Joint Ventures. \nThis one day virtual workshop is tailored towards Indigenous Entrepreneurs who are currently in\, or considering a business joint venture arrangement. \nThe workshop will cover: \n\nAn introduction to JV’s\nWhy enter a JV – benefits and risks?\nTypes of JV arrangements\nCriteria for evaluating your JV\nQuestions to ask of and about your JV partner\nBusiness relationships\, balance of power and code of behaviour\nBlack cladding issues\nPrinciples of good governance in JV arrangements\nRoles and responsibilities of Directors\, Management and Shareholders\nIntroduction to financial statements for Directors\nNegotiating the terms and conditions of your JV\n\nLearning outcomes: \n\nDecide if a JV arrangement is the right option for your business\nEvaluate if there is alignment of values and expectations with your JV partner\nBegin to understand and build the foundations for a JV partnership through good governance\nIdentify the threats and opportunities in a case study demonstrating an actual JV arrangement\nKnow when\, where and how to seek further advice and support\n\nFacilitator: \nAIM WA are a contemporary education leader; shaping management\, leadership and workplace excellence. \nYour session will be led by Gemma Nugent\, a specialist construction\, engineering and consulting contract lawyer.
