DESCRIPTION:Building rapport is crucial to being successful in the workplace and business but also to living a fulfilling life by connecting with those around you. Rapport is the foundation of relationships and trust. If you are able to build rapport quickly and meaningfully you will be well equipped to be persuasive and resolve conflict in your work or personal life. In this session\, participants will go through practical and simple ways they can build rapport in their workplace and life and reflect on the ways they already successfully build rapport and identify opportunities for improvement. \nJulian Coleman is a Mannkal Alumni having spent the summer of 2014/15 at the The Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs. A UWA graduate\, Julian began his career in London working in technology startups before returning to Perth to work for service integrator\, Cognizant (Servian)\, and now leading Software as a Service vendor\, Salesforce. \nWorking in technology sales\, building rapport with prospects and customers is an essential part of the role. At Cognizant (Servian) Julian delivered ‘Building Rapport’ and ‘Developing Commerciality’ workshops to technology consultants and delivers the program annually to Venture UWA’s incubator cohort.

DESCRIPTION:In this seminar\, Lyndon will draw on his experiences in both the private and public sectors to examine the role of government in the context of both market and government/regulatory failure\, why politicians and regulators should be modest and the increasing failure of the public sector to provide “frank and fearless advice”. \nLyndon Rowe is currently the Commissioner of the Utilities Commission of the Northern Territory\, Director of Mannkal Economic Education Foundation\, and a Non-Executive Director of Mannwest Group. Previously Lyndon has worked in a number of roles including as a Non-Executive Director of Perth Airport\, Chairman of Synergy\, Executive Chairman of Economic Regulation Authority of WA\, CEO of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of WA and a Member of the Senate of the University of Western Australia.
