SUMMARY:Science on the Swan Conference
DESCRIPTION:In this conference we will highlight the key emerging strategic research strategies and partnerships underpinning and influencing the Western Australian medical health and research sector. \nOne of our partnerships is with the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund\, FHRI\, which is the key mechanism by which the State Government funds health and medical research. This year SOTS 2023 will focus on the FHRI themes of Aboriginal and rural health\, Burden of disease\, COVID and long COVID\, and Mental health. We will also feature some of the state-wide initiatives that WAHTN has been enabling\, including Women’s Health Research\, Mental Health Research and our nationally recognised Consumer and Community Involvement in research Program. \nWe welcome submission of abstracts from junior to senior health and medical researchers\, consumers\, policy makers and funders. In addition to being a forum for the presentation and discussion of the outstanding health and medical research being carried out across the State we will also have a number of national and international speakers and of course the conference provides an ideal opportunity to socialise\, forge future collaborations and make friends. \nThe Conference will be from Monday 8 May 2023 – Wednesday 10 May 2023 at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. \nRegister HERE \n  \n\n\n\n\nWho is behind the Science on the Swan 2023 Conference?\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nProfessor Ian Everall –  WA Health Translation Network (Chair) \nDr Debra Turner – WA Health Translation Network \nDr Tanya Tuffrey – WA Health Translation Network \nDeb Langridge – WA Health Translation Network \nProfessor Wieland Meyer – Curtin University \nProfessor SS Vasan – Department of Health \nProfessor Daniel Fatovich – East Metropolitan Health Services \nSharon Humphris – East Metropolitan Health Service \n Dr Aron Chakera – North Metropolitan Health Service \nProfessor Romola Bucks – University of Western Australia \nAssociate Professor Elin Gray – Edith Cowan University \nAnita John – WA Country Health Service \nHannah Vu – WA Health Translation Network \nJustin Manuel – WA Country Health Service
