StartupWA are seeking candidates who bring a genuine interest in (and experience of) WA’s startup ecosystem, and want to contribute and commit their time.

These are unpaid positions. It is an opportunity to ‘give back’ to the startup sector. Directors’ main roles are to listen to and represent the best interests of the sector. They have also identified key skill areas that the Board would like to strengthen, including a strong knowledge and understanding of: Finance, accounting, investment and budgeting ~ Legal and risk

StartupWA are particularly (but not only) interested in hearing from applicants aged in their 20s and 30s, also female, regional, CaLD and indigenous backgrounds.  Prior experience on boards is useful, but not necessarily required. Likewise, an AICD (or similar) qualification is beneficial, but not expected.

Key deliverables of the role will include:

• Promote and advocate for and on behalf of StartupWA’s interests, including the broader constituents of its diverse membership base.
• Demonstrate commitment to the organisation through regular and continual attendance at Board and other (as required) meetings.
• In partnership with the Board, ensure the organisation’s financial control procedures are adequate and that risk management strategies are in place.
• Commit to implementing, maintaining and refining a system of good governance.
• Liaise with relevant stakeholders.
• Leave the organisation better than you found it.
