World Nuclear Energy Day 2023 – December 2nd – Webinar
2 December 2023 @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am AWST
Showcasing Nuclear Energy in Australia and Around the Globe
Once more, Innovate Australia proudly assumes the role of the official Ambassador for World Nuclear Energy Day in the year 2023. For the third consecutive occasion, we extend a cordial invitation to commemorate the astounding strides in technology and ingenuity within the global nuclear energy sector.
The significance of December 2nd as our chosen date remains twofold. It is a tribute to the momentous day when the first-ever self-sustaining chain reaction was achieved. Additionally, it marks the inauguration of the inaugural commercial-scale electric power reactor. On December 2, 1942, Fermi’s pioneering Chicago Pile-1 reactor achieved the historic milestone of a self-sustaining chain reaction. Furthermore, precisely 15 years later, on December 2, 1957, the first commercial-sized reactor in Shippingport, Pennsylvania, also reached criticality today. Delve deeper into this intriguing history by exploring Chicago Pile-1: A Brick Histor
As the pursuit of zero emissions gains momentum, nuclear energy is steadily gaining a growing number of supporters and advocates in Australia.
