DESCRIPTION:The presentation will highlight that historically there has been a major focus on technology and treatment trains when advanced forms of water reuse have been planned\, with community engagement generally playing a secondary role. \nNowadays\, the focus has shifted not only to treatment trains that are more sustainable to operate in terms of energy and chemical usage but also to the adoption of evidence-based and interactive means of community engagement/outreach to maximise trust and understanding between all parties. \nThe current global uptake of purified recycled water (PRW) to augment drinking water supplies in many countries is a testament to this approach’s success. The presentation will highlight key aspects of this journey.
