Recent reforms to the London Stock Exchange’s Main Market have simplified the listing process\, introduced a single category for commercial companies and a dedicated category for dual-listed companies\, and made it easier for founder-led and technology-driven businesses to access capital. These changes support dual-class share structures and streamline disclosure requirements – making London an increasingly attractive destination for international growth. \nQuestions: jeehyun.ahn@fcdo.gov.uk \nWho should attend: \nCompanies in \n\nresources\,\ntechnology\,\nlife sciences and\ncritical minerals – as well as any organisation looking to access opportunities in the UK.\n\n1-1 follow-up meetings with the panellists can be organised upon request. \n\nAbout the speakers: \n \nMichael Dawes is a partner in the London office of Bird & Bird\, an international law firm. Michael is a senior corporate finance lawyer\, with over 25 years’ experience of advising on equity capital markets and public and private M&A transactions\, predominantly in the natural resources and technology sectors. He acts on transactions globally\, and having previously worked in Sydney he has a particular interest in helping Australian companies to access the UK – whether it be an ASX-listed mining company looking to dual list here\, or a smaller fintech company looking to expand into the UK and Europe. Bird & Bird has 33 offices worldwide\, including the major cities of Europe\, as well as Sydney. \n \nThom Abbott is Head of SE Asia and Australasia\, Primary Markets for the London Stock Exchange. Thom is responsible for supporting companies and their investors understand the process of going public and life as a listed company on London’s markets. Thom joined the exchange in 2017 to support the international development of an initiative for private companies looking to ready themselves for IPO. Prior to LSE\, Thom worked at Chinese investment bank CITIC in Beijing and led the expansion of Foresight Science and Technology in Asia\, performing valuation work and managing technology licensing deals globally. Thom studied International Relations and Finance at the University of Leeds\, and was a Taiwan Ministry of Education Scholarship recipient\, studying at National Sun Yat Sen University. \n \nFinty Clowry Steele is an Investment Manager at the British Consulate-General in Perth. She supports innovative Australian companies to access the UK’s capital markets\, scale internationally\, and connect with venture capital\, strategic partners\, and government-backed support. Through DBT’s global network\, she helps businesses navigate the UK’s financial ecosystem\, identify growth opportunities\, and accelerate market entry. Hosted by Evolv3’s Steve Carroll in Q&A with pitchhawk CEO Mike Ganon\, this webinar will unpack the when\, why\, who\, and where of innovation funding for 2025/26. \nREGISTER HERE \n\n\nKey themes: what can attendees expect to learn\n▶ The liquidity mirage – how ZIRP inflated your valuation: Webinar attendees will gain insights into the shifting macroeconomic forces that shape startup valuations and in turn impact on fundraising timing and the available sources of capital. They’ll also gain an understanding of why investor expectations have moved from pure excitement to disciplined execution\, driven by the AI experience to date\, the reality that interest rates stayed high for longer than markets were anticipating\, as well as tighter liquidity\, changing geopolitics and the re-regionalisation of critical material supply chains. \n▶ The AI Distortion and lessons from the Dot-Com bubble: Mainstream media assertions that the AI-driven opportunity landscape might be “rhyming” with the dot-com era will also be explored to help anticipate investor mindset and behaviour in this new frontier. \n▶ Mapping Australia’s funding landscape\, and what investors actually want in 2025: A broad overview of the Australian innovation funding landscape\, the key categories of capital providers that founders should be aware of\, and what they will be looking for in 2025 and 2026 will also be covered. \n▶ pitchhawk launch: Last but not least\, the webinar introduces pitchhawk—a tech-enabled services platform created by Mike Ganon and powered by three decades of know-how across hundreds of transactions. pitchhawk helps founders and innovators uncover the true investability of their business\, then fortify what’s strong and rebuild what’s missing before stepping in front of investors. SUMMARY:DEADLINE: Startup Muster Survey 2025 (Extended Deadline)
DESCRIPTION:The Startup Muster Survey is the largest survey of Australian startups and the organisations that support them (educators\, investors\, accelerators\, incubators\, coworking spaces\, service providers\, government\, precincts and any other organisations supporting startups). \nWhy complete the survey? \n\nYou’re joining an unprecedented national effort to show the great things in Australia’s startup ecosystem. For the first time\, there are Survey Coordinators on the ground in every single state and territory\, and the national report this enables will be freely published in late 2025. Your responses will also be shared with relevant parts of Government and for research (if you give permission).\nThey have combined questions this year from many different startup supporters and government departments\, preventing a suite of new surveys. These are questions from the ecosystem\, for the ecosystem\, and they have also worked to trim 25 questions from the last survey that didn’t yield actionable data.\nYou’ll contribute to a twelve year legacy of Australian ecosystem data. Many of these questions date back to the first survey in 2013\, with a similar collection approach\, providing a unique picture of how this sector has evolved.\nYou’ll see comparison charts that show how your answers compare to other survey participants so far this year.\nYou’ll receive special offers and discounts on completion from partners.\n\nThis survey will take a while (grab a coffee)\, but you can stop any time and come back to resume later.
