SUMMARY:DEADLINE: Export Market Development Grants
DESCRIPTION:Austrade’s Export Market Development Grants (EMDG) program helps Australian businesses grow their exports in international markets. These grants encourage small to medium enterprises to market and promote their goods and services globally. \nAbout the program\nWe administer the government’s EMDG program. Since 1974\, EMDG has assisted more than 51\,000 unique small and medium size Australian businesses (SME) promote and market their products and services to over 180 countries world-wide. Most of those SMEs received multiple grants across the years for up to 8 years. \nEMDG is an eligibility-based\, demand-driven program. This means all eligible applicants receive a grant from the available funds. We do not base grants on the maximum grant tier caps. The grant amount depends on the: \n\nnumber of eligible applications in the round (referred to as demand)\navailable program budget shared among all eligible applicants.\n\nTypes of grants for exporters\nGrants are for eligible promotional activities undertaken by small to medium sized exporters and representative bodies. Small to medium enterprise (SME) exporters can apply for grants over 8 years in total (not necessarily consecutively). Representative bodies have no maximum grant years. Grants for businesses are available in 3 tiers with each providing a different level of support for SMEs as they grow their export markets. The tiers are: \n\nReady to export\nExporting and expanding\nExporting\, expanding and strategic shift.\n\nBusinesses don’t have to start at Tier 1 and progress to Tier 2 and 3. They can apply for any grant tier at any time depending on the business need. \nThe lengths of these grants reflect the different stages of an exporter’s journey. \nGrant agreement terms are offered in each round subject to: \n\nthe availability of funds\nthe maximum allowable grant term for the relevant tier under the EMDG Rules\n\nBusinesses can still access EMDG grants for up to 8 years. \nRead more about the 3 tiers and grants for representative bodies. \nHow to get a grant\nThe EMDG program bases criteria on eligibility\, not competition. All eligible applicants receive a grant. The process is as follows: \n\nApply for a grant for eligible promotional activities you plan to undertake.\nAfter all applications are considered\, Austrade offers a grant agreement to each eligible applicant.\nIf you agree\, you enter into a grant agreement with Austrade. Grant agreements will clarify the maximum funding amounts per financial year over the term of your grant agreement.\nYou lodge a milestone report to request milestone payments as per your grant agreement. Your grant agreement will state:\n\n\nwhen we make your milestone payments\nwhat you need to do to get these payments.\n\nWhen we make grant payments\nWe set the timing of payments by your grant agreement. Your grant agreement will state when you should provide your milestone report. \nHow we distribute funds\nEMDG is an eligibility based\, demand driven program. This means all eligible applicants will receive a grant from the available funds. Austrade will calculate how much funding will be given to all eligible applications based on the demand in that round. Each eligible applicant will receive a grant agreement with the grant amount approved. \nYou must match the dollar value of the grant monies you receive (this means you must spend double the grant amount to receive the grant).

SUMMARY:Livestream: The Engine\, MIT

By transforming the foundations of industry\, we unlock massive opportunities for a more sustainable\, resilient world. \nTough Tech\nWhat is “Tough Technology” and are we doing enough to support its development in Western Australia? \nTough Technology is based around science. It’s portfolio includes 44 startups and over US$600m under management across three VC funds. The Engine’s portfolio includes Commonwealth Fusion Systems\, which is developing a fusion-powered electricity generator\, and Mori\, which recently raised US$50m in Series B1 financing to support its development of a natural coating to reduce food spoilage. \nCERI Event\nAs part of our CERI Speaker Series\, The Engine’s Business Development Manager\, Hayden McFarlane has kindly offered to provide us with an online overview of The Engine. \nJoin us at CERI for this engaging breakfast session at 7.00 am on Tuesday the 18th April. SUMMARY:DEADLINE: Plus Eight Accelerator Program Application
DESCRIPTION:Our accelerator program is designed for local startups who are ready to scale on a domestic and global level\, fast. Since launching in 2017\, the program has invested over $2M in startups\, and facilitated an additional $16M in follow-on investment and has a portfolio valued at $106M. \nWhile 2023 is set to be bigger than ever\, it will run in the same phased approach\, with three stages for startups to prove they’re the best in the state. Startups selected following an intense application process will join a weekend bootcamp where they will hustle their way into Phase 1 of the program. \nFollowing this\, and after a rigorous Phase 2 pitching process\, the final cohort selected will travel to London for an international immersion trip where they’ll get to meet and create connections with international VC’s and investors\, learn from successful international startups and scaleups\, and explore international funding options. The program will conclude with the cohort pitching at Demo Night\, scheduled as part of West Tech Fest in December. \nFor startups that are accepted\, our accelerator program can be a game-changer\, helping them to rapidly scale their business and achieve their goals. \nThis year\, we’re also excited to welcome onboard new partner\, Adapt by Design who will be joining Woodside Energy\, RAC’s BetterLabs\, Capricorn Society\, Vici Ventures\, Hawaiian\, Jackson McDonald and DFK Gooding Partners in supporting the 2023 program. \nApply HERE

SUMMARY:DEADLINE: R&D Tax Incentive
DESCRIPTION:The research and development (R&D) tax incentive aims to boost competitiveness and improve productivity across the Australian economy by: \n\nencouraging industry to conduct R&D that may not otherwise have been conducted\nimproving the incentive for smaller firms to undertake R&D\nproviding business with more predictable\, less complex support.\n\nThe research and development (R&D) tax incentive provides targeted tax offsets designed to encourage more companies to engage in R&D. The incentive has 2 core components. For income years commencing on or after 1 July 2021\, entities engaged in R&D may be entitled to: \n\na refundable tax offset equal to the entity’s company tax rate plus an 18.5% premium for eligible entities with an aggregated turnover of less than $20 million per annum\, provided they are not controlled by income tax-exempt entities\na non-refundable tax offset for all other eligible entities equal to the entity’s company tax rate plus a two-tiered premium determined on the notional R&D expenditure as a proportion of total expenditure for the income year. The new rates will be the company tax rate plus\n\n8.5% for R&D expenditure up to 2% of total expenditure\n16.5% for R&D expenditure above 2% of total expenditure.\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\nEvolve Innovation is dedicated to helping businesses access the Australian Government’s R&D Tax Incentive.
