SUMMARY:Renewable energy integration in remote microgrids
DESCRIPTION:This presentation explores the engineering principles\, technologies and operational strategies being used across the sector to support renewable integration in microgrids. Topics include grid-forming battery energy storage systems\, advanced protection approaches\, system strength assessment\, operating envelopes and control system architectures. \nDrawing on practical case studies from Horizon Power and remote Australian microgrids\, participants will gain insight into Hydrocarbons-Off operation\, lessons learned during commissioning and operation\, and considerations for future renewable-powered energy systems. \nThis event is produced by the Electric Energy Society of Australia WA Branch.

SUMMARY:DEADLINE: Carbon Innovation Grants Program
DESCRIPTION:Supporting WA heavy industries to transition to net zero carbon emissions\nThe program funds feasibility studies\, pilot projects and capital works that help to avoid\, reduce or offset carbon emissions from heavy industry processes\, with a focus on supporting innovative technologies for carbon abatement and sequestration. \nThe Department of Water and Environmental Regulation administers the $15 million program through a competitive process. Two grant rounds have been completed. \nRound 3 of the grant program is now open for applications. Further details are provided below.
