SUMMARY:FEnEx CRC Decarbonising energy exports: progress and prospects
DESCRIPTION:Join us for two full days of content\, knowledge-sharing and fun as we review and explore the technology and ideas emerging to support Australia’s efforts to remain competitive in energy exports. \nThe theme this year is centred around progress and future prospects – because both as a nation and a CRC we have made progress and its important to reflect on the successes and lessons learned. As the pathways towards cleaner models of operating become evident\, it’s important that FEnEx CRC’s research focus be updated accordingly. \nAlong with some of Australia’s most forward-thinking technologists\, academics and advocates\, we are coming together to discuss how we plan to decarbonise some of our hard to abate industries whilst maintaining our highly-effective economic industries. \nConference Program \nThe conference program will feature a range of speakers presenting on the latest research\, ideas\, and project developments that support the challenge of energy decarbonisation in the transition to a cleaner world. The program offers the opportunity to learn about the latest policy initiatives\, technological advances and societal shifts that are shaping the energy transition landscape. \nPoster Forum \nThe project poster forum is an opportunity for attendees to explore the cutting-edge research projects being undertaken within the FEnEx CRC. The posters offer a chance for researchers to showcase their work and engage with fellow attendees in informal conversations. This year in response to previous requests\, there will be a dedicated poster session with refreshments at the end of day 1. Additional engagement will be available during conference breaks.

SUMMARY:How we can build a stronger sovereign manufacturing capability here in WA
DESCRIPTION:Whether it is scaling up\, transitioning innovations into production or\, continuous improvement\, the decision to invest in manufacturing equipment can often be daunting. Manufacturers may become stuck in indecision or incur unnecessary and avoidable costs. \nPlanning effectively is key to ensuring successful outcomes\, and whilst current tools are effective\, they are being replaced with more powerful tools that offer better results and therefore confidence. \nThis discussion will be to share the experiences & the fears of making those investment decisions and how Bosch Australia Manufacturing Solutions (BAMS) have supported businesses in this sector to:\n– Reduce risk.\n– Eliminate downstream error.\n– Make the decision to invest easier.\n– Limit unnecessary & unplanned costs.\n– Plan better.\n– Visual what production could look like.\n– Optimise product designs for ease of manufacture.\n– Offer manufacturing resource and know-how. \nBosch are known for successfully launching innovative products so\, this workshop will provide insights to the systems & tools that BAMS employ that provide manufacturers with a greater confidence when they are ready to scale up. \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND\nIf you are employed within either a start-up or\, an existing business\, who wish to introduce new products\, scale up or solve current production issues then this event is for you. \nIt is aimed for those who are planning their manufacturing strategies and need some reassurances around the decisions and investments that are to be made. This could be designers & technical personnel\, CEO’s\, COO’s\, and other executives employed within business operations. \nThese topics will also relate to existing manufacturing operations where production processes require improvement and the decision to invest is not so well defined. Participants will see examples of Lean Manufacturing exercises and the application of Digital Tools that BAMS use to help clients become more effective & efficient. \nCONFERENCE TOPICS & DEMOS:\nWe shall engage in a group discussion to share experiences and barriers\, followed by a short presentation covering the topics as described below:\n– The tension between Commercialisation and R&D.\n– Manufacturing Strategy – The what\, how and when.\n– The fear of automation & the barriers to investing.\n– Manufacturing resourcing & technical know-how.\n– Lean Manufacturing: Design for Manufacture\, Lean Line Design\, Value Stream Mapping.\n– The Bosch Production System.\n– Simulation Tools as a decision-making tool.
