SUMMARY:DEADLINE: Theo Murphy Initiative (Australia)
DESCRIPTION:The Theo Murphy Initiative (Australia) supports early- and mid-career researchers (EMCRs) in science\, technology\, engineering\, and mathematics (STEM) through grants that enable collaboration\, knowledge sharing\, and professional growth. Administered by the Academy on behalf of the Royal Society (Australia) Pty Ltd Board\, the program invests in activities that strengthen Australia’s research ecosystem and respond to current scientific priorities. The initiative is supported by the Theo Murphy (Australia) Fund\, part of a philanthropic bequest dedicated to advancing science in perpetuity. \nThe current structure offers three streams—Flagship\, Amplify\, and Participation Support—designed to empower EMCRs to lead multidisciplinary initiatives\, access development opportunities\, and overcome barriers to participation. \n\nFlagship activities offering grants up to $50\,000;\nAmplify activities providing up to $15\,000;\nParticipation Support grants up to $5\,000.\n\nOn the recommendation of the Australian Academy of Science\, the Royal Society (Australia) Pty Ltd Board determines the activities to be supported with the Theo Murphy (Australia) Fund.

SUMMARY:DEADLINE: National Computational Merit Allocation Scheme 2027
DESCRIPTION:NCMAS provides access\, based on research and computational merit\, for researchers at Australian universities and publicly funded research agencies\, to resources at the major national HPC facilities. \nNCMAS supports HPC simulations\, data processing and AI/ML. Quantum computing is also available via Setonix-Q – a portal for Australian researchers to run hybrid quantum–classical workflows. \nThe NCMAS 2027 Call for Applications is expected to be highly competitive. Last year: \n\nAbout 884 million SU (service units) in total were awarded to applicants at the two\nHPC facilities\, NCI and the Pawsey Supercomputing Centre.\nAllocated resources were only ~40% of the total requested resources\, with the\nscheme more than 2.5x oversubscribed.\n110 of 235 applications (~47%) received allocations on one or more of the HPC\nfacilities.\n\nThe National Computational Merit Allocation Scheme is Australia’s premiere grant scheme for access to high-performance computing (HPC) resources. The two Tier-1 HPC facilities in Australia\, the National Computational Infrastructure (NCI) and the Pawsey Supercomputing Research Centre\, together offer hundreds of millions of hours of computing time to meritorious researchers.
