SUMMARY:CyberThrive and CyberQueens - inclusivity for women in cyber
DESCRIPTION:Website: https://events.humanitix.com/cyberthrive-x-cyberqueens \nWiTWA is excited to partner with CyberQueens and CyberWest Hub to host an evening designed to connect students\, emerging professionals\, and leaders in the cybersecurity space. \nCyberQueens is an initiative supporting TAFE and university students interested in cybersecurity\, helping them build networks\, gain insights from industry professionals\, and explore career pathways in the cyber sector. \nThis event also forms part of CyberThrive\, WiTWA’s program focused on supporting women to enter\, transition into\, or progress in cybersecurity careers. \nCyberThrive aims to address the gender gap in cybersecurity by creating practical pathways into the industry\, particularly for women who are: \n• transitioning from another career\n• returning to the workforce\n• early in their tech journey\n• interested in moving into cyber from adjacent roles \nThe program brings together training providers\, industry partners\, and community organisations to create clearer entry points into cybersecurity careers through industry engagement\, mentoring\, practical training\, and skills development. \nThe evening will feature a short talk from Vannessa Van Beek\, a WiTWA Award Winner and Senior Cyber Leader\, followed by an interactive networking session. \nAttendees will also hear about Cyber CX Cyber5050\, another BWC initiative. \nAfter the talk\, attendees will take part in small rotating discussion groups (similar to speed networking)\, creating an opportunity to connect directly with industry professionals and peers in a relaxed and supportive environment. \nWhether you are studying cyber\, exploring the field\, or already working in the industry\, this event is a great opportunity to build connections\, learn from others in the field\, and expand your professional network.

SUMMARY:UWA Defence & Security Public Event Invitation
DESCRIPTION:WA’s Growing Strategic Importance : A Deep Dive into AUKUS and the Surface Fleet Review \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe UWA Defence and Security Institute warmly invite you to attend a public event and panel discussion on WA’s Growing Strategic Importance: A Deep Dive into AUKUS and the Surface Fleet Review. \nFor an Australian state that has gained much of its regional prominence in the export of minerals and hydrocarbons from its Indian Ocean ports\, Western Australia has also grown in strategic and military importance over the past few years. The AUKUS announcement and a more consequential U.S. Force Posture Initiative commitment coupled with a bigger WA shipbuilding focus\, as evidenced in the wake of Australia’s recent Combatant Surface Fleet Review\, has put HMAS Stirling and the Australian Marine Complex in Henderson in both the national and regional spotlight. \nWe are delighted to invite to Perth for this special event and program\, Dr Zack Cooper\, Senior Fellow at the American Enterprise Institute in Washington D.C.\, Professor Alessio Patalano\, Professor of War & Strategy in East Asia\, Director\, King’s Japan Programme\, King’s College in London\, Jennifer Parker\, Expert Associate\, National Security College\, ANU\, Professor Peter Dean\, Director\, Foreign Policy and Defence at the United States Studies Centre\, The University of Sydney. Linda Dawson\, Deputy Director General\, Industry\, Science and Innovation at the Department of Jobs\, Tourism\, Science and Innovation will moderate this panel discussion and the Honourable David Johnston will be our Master of Ceremonies. \nWe hope you are available to join us as our expert speakers take a deep dive into how Western Australia fits into AUKUS and broader U.S.\, U.K. and Australian strategic thinking about the region. \nThis public event will take place in the theatre-auditorium located at The University Club of Western Australia. Please register as places are limited \nDate: Tuesday 25 June 2024 \nTime: Registration: 5:45 pm – 6:15 pm (Doors open @ 6 pm) \nEvent: 6:15 pm – 8:00 pm \nNetworking Reception: 8:00 pm – 8:45 pm \nLocation: The University Club of Western Australia – Hackett Entrance #1\, Hackett Drive\, Crawley. \nThis is a free event so registration is essential by Friday 21 June for catering purposes.

SUMMARY:Start with Security\, End with Trust: Leveraging SaaS to Fight Cyber Threats
DESCRIPTION:How do you turn a cyber attack into a non-existent threat? \nAI and ML bring many valuable applications across the organisation\, delivering amazing opportunities — as well as threats\, and the responsibility of ethics. Understanding the intersection of security challenges and product architecture is vital. \nTransforming security practices requires enabling teams with foundational security principles in the design\, development and running of cloud services\, which can make all the difference when it comes to cyber threats. Security should be at the core of any SaaS product — not just bolted on at the end. Product design\, cloud operations\, and data integration are all key elements to getting it right. \nJoin Mathew to explore leadership strategies to achieve trust and security\, sharing best practices\, everyday applications\, and the pitfalls to watch out for. \nAs always\, we will have Q&A time plus networking over drinks and pizzas. \nRegistration essential. \n— \nThank you to our sponsors JourneyOne and to our hosts at Spacecubed for helping us make these events happen.
