SUMMARY:Hexagon Regional Mining Forum Perth
DESCRIPTION:Safety and Productivity at Scale: Turning Data into Action\n\nMining companies have invested heavily in technology over the past decade\, from sensors\, automation and collision avoidance systems to fleet management and process intelligence platforms. Yet for many operations\, the challenge is no longer access to data; it’s turning that data into decisions that drive safer\, more productive outcomes. \nThe Hexagon Perth Regional Mining Forum brings together mining leaders\, operational stakeholders and technology specialists from across Western Australia to explore how leading organisations are bridging the gap between technology deployment and operational impact. \nThrough customer case studies\, expert-led discussions\, product roadmap overviews and an interactive workshop\, attendees will gain practical insights into how data can be transformed into action—improving decision-making\, accelerating adoption\, and delivering measurable value across the mining value chain.

SUMMARY:Industry Partners Series: membrane solutions for minerals and water
DESCRIPTION:Australia holds world-class reserves of lithium\, rare earths\, cobalt and other critical minerals central to clean energy systems\, advanced manufacturing\, defence capability and supply-chain resilience. Yet most value is still realised at the mining stage\, with downstream processing constrained by high energy demand\, intensive chemical use\, water consumption\, waste generation and process complexity. \nThis seminar examines how membrane technology can unlock the next phase of sustainable Direct Critical Mineral Extraction. Advanced membrane processes enable selective separation\, concentration and purification of target elements from brines\, leachates\, tailings and industrial waste streams. When properly designed\, these systems can reduce water and chemical inputs\, lower environmental impact and improve overall process efficiency. \nDrawing on recent research from Edith Cowan University’s Mineral Recovery Research Centre\, Dr Amir Razmjou will present emerging membrane-based approaches for extracting lithium\, rubidium\, high-purity alumina and rare earth elements. Dr Mehdi Shirazi will explore process development pathways\, pilot-scale validation and integration into industrial operations. \nThe seminar demonstrates how membrane innovation\, supported by strong university\, industry and government collaboration\, can help Australia move beyond raw material export and build sovereign capability in clean\, low-carbon critical mineral processing.

SUMMARY:MRIWA WEBINARS: CRITICAL MINERALS & TAILINGS VALORISATION SERIES
DESCRIPTION:Resilient Value Chains for the Energy Transition: A Circular Economy approach on Critical Battery Materials with Dr Stéphanie Riché & Dr Caroline Celle\nJoin us for our new international monthly webinar series where we speak with researchers from around the globe who are advancing the fields of critical minerals and tailing valorisation. \nThe energy transition is known to be intensive in critical raw materials and must not lead to replacing the current dependence on fossil fuels with a dependence on raw materials. It must be based on assumed sovereignty over the necessary materials and a quest toward resource efficiency at each stage of a circular economy of materials. This presentation will first illustrate how supply/demand and supply chain risk analysis can support national and European strategies. It will also illustrate how key-enabling technologies can facilitate the transformation of linear material value chains into circular ones. \nThe second part of this presentation will focus on the circularity of battery materials. The replacement of critical materials for battery development is strategically addressed by developing new post Li-ion chemistries without Ni\, Co\, Li\, and Cu\, such as Na or K-ion batteries. Additionally\, the reuse of recycled inputs from production scraps or end-of-life batteries is being explored. Intensive research is ongoing to improve the electrochemical performance of high-energy-density batteries and to develop low-cost\, low-environmental-impact batteries. After a brief introduction to CEA’s R&D facilities\, the presentation will focus on the reuse of purified black mass lixiviates for the synthesis of advanced cathode active materials (PCAM and CAM). It will also evaluate the impact of the nature of impurities on overall performance.

SUMMARY:Report Release: Western Australia’s Resources Sector in Transition
DESCRIPTION:The Bankwest Curtin Economics Centre invites you to a special sundowner for the release of our latest report\, Western Australia’s Resources Sector in Transition\nWestern Australia’s economy remains deeply anchored in its resources sector\, with iron ore continuing to underpin exports\, public revenues\, employment and living standards. But the global operating environment is shifting rapidly. Decarbonisation\, technological disruption and geopolitical fragmentation are reshaping resource-based economies worldwide. \nThis new Focus on Industry report examines how WA’s resources sector is adapting to these pressures\, and what this means for economic diversification\, fiscal sustainability and long-term prosperity. While the sector remains a source of strength\, it also faces growing structural pressures\, including rising costs\, infrastructure constraints\, concentrated supply chains and exposure to volatile global markets. The report also assesses the opportunities – and limits – of downstream processing\, critical minerals and low-emissions industries.
