MTPConnect WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub: WA MTP Sector Spotlight Series event.

13 July 2022 @ 7:00 am - 9:00 am AWST

The MTPConnect WA Life Sciences Innovation Hub invites you to join the monthly WA MTP Sector Spotlight Series event.

About this event

Our monthly breakfast series is an opportunity for representatives from across the MTP sector to connect, collaborate and learn about upcoming opportunities, and hear the stories and successes of WA organisations developing health and medical innovations. Join us over a light breakfast in the last week of each month at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

This month, join AIQ Solutions’ President & CEO Eric Horler in conversation with MTPConnect’s Dr Tracey Wilkinson for a fireside chat discussing the AIQ story, including creating a startup out of a University project and raising private equity money in a Series A, using AI in Nuclear Medicine and Oncology to assess the efficacy of treatments and provide cancer patients with a prognosis, and why a startup in Wisconsin came all the way to Perth to set up its only other office.

Featuring AIQ Solutions

AIQ Solutions was born out of the University of Wisconsin Translational Imaging Research Program. They aim to revolutionize precision medicine using AI-driven software technologies. These technologies use comprehensive treatment response assessments from imaging scans to improve patient outcomes.

The founders, Dr Robert Jeraj, Dr Glenn Liu, Dr George Wilding, and Ms Dona Alberti worked together for over ten years at the University of Wisconsin Carbone Cancer Center with decades of combined experience in drug development, clinical trials, and translational imaging research.

From 2009 to 2015, Dr Jeraj and Dr Liu leveraged $8M in industry and grant funding to develop the novel methodology underlying AIQ’s products. In January 2015, AIQ was incorporated.

AIQ Solutions is now poised for rapid growth with a strong leadership team, one product fully commercialized, and a strong pipeline of new products at varying stages of development. In 2020 AIQ established an office in Perth (within the Harry Perkins Institute), which is their first office outside the US.

About our speaker Eric Horler – President & CEO, AIQ Solutions

Eric Horler joined AIQ Solutions as President and CEO in September 2018.

Before joining the AIQ team, Eric was President and CEO of Swallow Solutions LLC, a medical device start-up with both therapeutic devices and functional beverages for dysphagia patients. At Swallow Solutions, Eric successfully raised seed capital, grew the team, established the supply chain, drove sales growth, and executed a complex reimbursement strategy.

While at GEHC, Eric was responsible for a $220 million global business and a large team spread over three continents. Previously, he held a series of marketing and business development roles at Baxter Healthcare, including Director of Renal Products and Services for the Latin America region.

Eric has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Rice University and both an MBA and Master of Engineering Management degrees from the Kellogg School of Business.

Join Eric in conversation with MTPConnect’s Dr Tracey Wilkinson for a fireside chat discussing the AIQ story, including creating a startup out of a University project and raising private equity money in a Series A, using AI in Nuclear Medicine and Oncology to assess the efficacy of treatments and provide cancer patients with a prognosis, and why a startup in Wisconsin came all the way to Perth to set up its only other office.
