MRIWA TECH TALKS: Seismic Sensors in Drilling Workflow

MRIWA invites you to their monthly tech talks discussing the intricate processes and findings of recently completed projects with a chance to question the researchers face to face.

Part of MinEx CRC Project 5, this project aimed to revolutionize mineral exploration by embedding seismic sensing directly into drilling operations. The project leverages advanced technologies such as Distributed Acoustic Sensing (DAS) and full-waveform inversion (FWI) to produce high-resolution 3D models of subsurface structures.

By refining seismic data acquisition and processing within the drilling workflow, the project supports more targeted and efficient exploration in geologically complex regions. It aligns with Western Australia’s strategic goal of maintaining global leadership in sustainable mineral exploration, especially in areas with deep cover where conventional methods are less effective.
