SUMMARY:Australia’s Environmental Data Mosaic: from complexity to national advantage
DESCRIPTION:Australia’s environmental evidence is expanding faster than our ability to assemble it. Satellites\, sensors\, ranger programs\, Defence monitoring and research infrastructures are generating unprecedented data. But fragmentation means critical insights remain locked in silos. \nMajor national decisions now depend on rapid\, trusted environmental intelligence. From the upcoming State of the Environment Report to Defence estate stewardship\, disaster‑risk planning and state land management\, organisations need data that is findable\, interoperable and ready for use at scale. \nThe cost of inaction is rising. Without a connected environmental data ecosystem\, Australia risks slower responses\, weaker accountability and missed opportunities to build sovereign capability in environmental intelligence. \nThis webinar brings together three speakers to confront a central question: how do we turn a fragmented environmental data landscape into a connected\, resilient\, national‑scale capability that serves reporting\, operations and long‑term stewardship? If you care about the long-term health of Australia’s land and the institutions that steward it\, this is a conversation you will not want to miss.

SUMMARY:MRIWA Tech Talks: Mineralisation Controls in the Fraser Zone
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an engaging MRIWA Tech Talk highlighting Project M0470a\, a multi-scale investigation into the controls on mineralisation within the Fraser Zone—one of Western Australia’s most prospective yet least understood geological regions. \nThe project addresses major knowledge gaps by moving from broad orogen-scale interpretations to detailed structural\, geochemical and isotopic analyses aimed at identifying mineralisation pathways and diagnostic geochemical fingerprints. Conducted in conjunction with the Geological Survey of Western Australia (GSWA)\, this collaborative effort brings together leading expertise to provide a more accurate and comprehensive understanding of this complex terrain. \nOur speaker\, Professor Katy Evans of Curtin University\, Lead Investigator on the project\, will share insights from her team’s multidisciplinary work and discuss how these findings can sharpen exploration decision‑making and enhance discovery potential across the state. ] \nAttendees will gain a richer appreciation of how this research strengthens Western Australia’s exploration capability\, supports innovation\, and contributes to long‑term value for industry and the broader community.

SUMMARY:AI Roundtable 2026: Governance\, Safety & Innovation
DESCRIPTION:Western Australia’s voices on the rules\, risks\, and real value of artificial intelligence. \n\n\n\n\nFive voices. One table. Two hours that matter.\nIn mid-2026\, every senior leader in Western Australia is being asked the same question: what does responsible artificial intelligence actually mean for my organisation\, my community\, and my obligations as a citizen? \nAI Roundtable 2026 is the WA AI Hub’s flagship public conversation on the rules\, risks and real value of artificial intelligence in Western Australia. For one afternoon\, five voices sit around one table for a moderated discussion followed by a practical workshop. No vendor pitch. No futurism. A working roundtable on what to do next. \nWhy this conversation\, why now\nAustralia has a Commonwealth Chief AI Officer mandate in force\, a Voluntary AI Safety Standard\, and a State AI Policy and Assurance Framework in Western Australia. Boards\, executives and senior public servants are all being asked to act\, often with limited internal capability and no precedent. This event puts the people setting the rules in the same room as the people working under them and the public who lives with the consequences. \nAround the table\n\nKate Chaney MP\, Independent Federal Member for Curtin. Among Australia’s most active parliamentary voices on AI and leading work on deepfakes in elections\, on automated decision-making safeguards in government\, and on AI-generated child sexual abuse material.\nProf. Sharath Sriram\, Chief Scientist Western Australia. WA’s fourth and most senior independent science advisor\, appointed in June 2025. Nanoelectronics researcher and Fellow of Engineers Australia\, with two decades of work translating research into industry.\nProf. Toby Walsh\, Chief Scientist of the UNSW AI Institute. ARC Laureate Fellow\, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Science\, and one of the world’s most cited AI researchers. Author of five books on AI for the general public\, most recently The Shortest History of AI (2025).\nJosh Tedjasaputra\, Founder & Chair\, WA AI Hub. Designer of the Responsible AI Governance Sprint and publisher of the Australia AI Business Index 2026. Adjunct at UNSW teaching Responsible AI and Human-Computer Interaction.\nFacilitated by Dr Eunice Sari\, Director of CX Insight and Adjunct Associate Professor at UNSW. First Asian female Google Developer Expert in Product Design and Strategy. Three decades of human-computer interaction practice across academia and industry.\n\nWho this is for\nSenior executives\, board directors\, public servants\, academics\, AI practitioners\, and any Western Australian who takes the future of AI in this State seriously enough to spend two hours thinking it through with others.

SUMMARY:Critical Minerals & Tailings Monthly Webinar (MRIWA)
DESCRIPTION:The transition towards a circular and low-carbon economy requires innovative and integrated approaches to secure the supply of critical raw materials (CRMs). This presentation will focus on the development of advanced process routes for CRM recovery from primary and secondary resources\, while ensuring the valorisation of all process streams across the value chain. The work covers a holistic approach that integrates resource pre-treatment\, hydrometallurgical processing\, separation and refining steps\, as well as the treatment and reuse of process waters. Particular emphasis is placed on the design of sustainable and efficient recovery strategies that maximise resource efficiency\, reduce chemical consumption\, and minimise waste generation. \nThe use case presented is centred on lithium extraction from spodumene as a representative primary resource. This case demonstrates a validated TRL 5 process concept for sustainable lithium recovery\, combining selective processing strategies with integrated residue management. In addition to lithium production\, the approach enables the valorisation of the remaining solid residues\, contributing to a more circular and resource-efficient flowsheet. \nAlthough the case study focuses on lithium\, the developed methodologies are transferable to other critical raw materials and are aligned with the increasing need for more sustainable mining and processing practices. Overall\, the presentation highlights how integrated process design can bridge efficiency\, sustainability\, and circularity in primary CRM production systems.
