SUMMARY:Livestream at CERI | MIT Professor Donald Sadoway
DESCRIPTION:CERI Speaker Series\nProfessor Donald Sadoway – Extreme Electrochemistry and the Decarbonisation of Manufacturing \nIn this engaging session livestreamed from the US\, Professor Donald Sadoway will challenge us to ask audacious questions and imagine the unimaginable. An emeritus professor of materials chemistry from MIT\, Donald Sadoway is a co-founder of deep technology startups Ambri and Boston Metal. Ambri is a liquid metal battery company which has attracted over $200m in funding. Boston Metal has invented an emissions free method of steel production using molten oxide electrolysis. \nWith the support of Schmidt Futures\, Professor Sadoway recently established the Sadoway Labs Foundation where he encourages a team of researchers to use his unique approach to extreme electrochemistry to help to tackle climate change mitigation challenges. Professor Sadoway’s metals recovery work could have profound implications for Western Australia\, potentially allowing for emissions-free\, direct metal extraction from ores using electrolysis. \nTuesday 27 February – 7am – 8.30am \nLight breakfast will be provided. \nThis talk will be streamed to the CERI office in Nedlands and is an in person event.
