DESCRIPTION:How can we prevent exploitation in the energy transition? What will work look like in a Net Zero future? What role do labour rights and trade unions play in a Just Transition? For our fifth event in the Perspectives on the Transition series\, we are delighted to host our Advisory Board Chair\, Sharan Burrow AC! Sharan has previously led the International Trade Union Confederation (the largest trade union in the world) and is a global advocate for just transition. \nThe transformation required for the energy transition will encompass all facets of society\, including how\, why and where we work. However\, the energy transition also holds the potential to marginalise already disadvantaged groups and further entrench global inequality. In this seminar\, Sharan will discuss the importance of sustainable business development and the roles of human rights\, employment and justice when it comes to delivering a Net Zero future. \nFollowing the seminar\, drinks and light refreshments will be provided for those attending in person. \n(Please note: details of livestream will be provided closer to the event) \nThe presenter: \nSharan Burrow is a global advocate for human rights\, climate action and Just Transition. She is the Former General Secretary of the International Trade Union Confederation (2010-2022). Previously she was President of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (2000–2010) and President of the Australian Education Union (1992-2000). Sharan is well known for her international advocacy on employment\, human rights\, industrial relations\, corporate responsibility and climate action with green industrialisation and just transition solutions. Sharan is currently a Visiting Professor in Practice at the LSE-Grantham Institute and chair of its Just Transition Finance Lab’s Advisory Council\, a Vice-Chair of the European Climate Foundation\, a board member of the Green Hydrogen Association\, Co-Chair of the IEA Labour Council\, an adviser on Temasek’s Sustainability Advisory Panel\, a board member of Novonix and Chair of the Curtin University Institute for Energy Transition Advisory Board.

DESCRIPTION:Paving the way for on-farm autonomy through digital change management   \nThis online event is part of Grain Automate\, a Grains Research and Development Corporation (GRDC) initiative on behalf of Australian grain growers aimed at accelerating the adoption of machine automation\, autonomy and digital technologies in the Australian grains industry. \nThe webinar will address three broad perspectives across on-farm autonomy: the learning or background\, the growers\, and industry. \nOur keynote speaker is Emma Leonard from AgriKnowHow. Emma will discuss key areas to address the path from manual processes to on-farm autonomy\, automation versus autonomu\, adoption versus change management and how to take a planned approach to autonomy. \nTom Longmire\, a grower from Esperance WA will share his on-farm experiences with automation\, what’s worked and what hasn’t\, what they’ve learned and ‘where to from here’. \nRepresentatives from John Deere\, CNH and SwarmFarm will discuss their change management models and practical applications for growers. \nEach of our presenters will take questions from the audience. DESCRIPTION:The Innovation Booster Grant (IBG) is a competitive Western Australian government grant\, funded through the $25.8 million New Industries Fund which sits under the Department of Jobs\, Tourism\, Science and Innovation (JTSI). Prior to 2022\, it was known as the ‘Innovation Vouchers Program’. \nThe Innovation Booster Grant (IBG) is a competitive funding grant\, designed to provide WA-based startups and small businesses with the financial boost needed to access professional skills\, services or knowledge\, to advance their innovative idea\, project or commercial activity in Western Australia. \nThe WA Government recognises that innovative startups and small businesses have great ideas\, but taking these ideas and turning them into new and sustainable business opportunities with real commercial outcomes can be difficult. \nThe program is designed to assist innovators to overcome some of the barriers on the path to commercialisation. It aims to build new relationships between innovators\, research providers and specialist commercialisation support services\, or to move tentative collaborations into a productive relationship. \nCut-off dates:\nAlthough the IBG program is open all year round\, there are various ‘cut-off dates’ when the latest submissions will be downloaded\, and then assessed. \nSubmitted applications cannot be changed after this date. If your application is not ready for assessment\, simply continue working on it\, without pressing ‘submit’. \nThe upcoming ‘cut-off dates’ are: \n\n11am (AWST)\, Thursday\, 15 August 2024\n11am (AWST)\, Thursday\, 17 October 2024
