SUMMARY:Founder Sundowner
DESCRIPTION:Calling all startup founders! \nOn the first Wednesday of each month\, let’s get together for a tasty beverage or two\, celebrate and/or commiserate the month that was\, and share plans and ideas for the month yet to be! \nYou might even meet your future Co-founder\, Lead Programmer\, or Chief Ninja of Ideation and Crypto Research. \nAs Elon Musk could have once said\, “All my success is due to drinking with other startup founders as often as possible”. \nThis is a very casual\, monthly\, after-work event\, in addition to our fortnightly Morning Startup meetups at Spacecubed. So if you’re not a morning person\, this is for you! \nThere will be no speakers or formalities. Just a bunch of startups\, in a pub\, having fun\, and learning from each other. \nWe may or may not have sponsors\, so make sure you save up ahead of time to cover the cost of your own exotic cocktails and Perth-priced-drinks. \n(If your company is interested in putting on a bar tab or buying a pizza or two\, in exchange for exposure to the Perth Startup Community through our extensive member list\, let’s talk! contact@morningstartup.com ) \nTo find us\, ask the bar staff for the Founder Sundowner table and they’ll point you in the right direction. \nLook forward to seeing you there!

DESCRIPTION:This will be the second event in a series presented by Innovation Cluster in support of the Workforce Australia Entrepreneurship Facilitator program\, aimed at encouraging more participation in the workforce through Self Employment. \nCome along and listen to Paul Faix’s story – from the Slovak Republic to Perth via Sydney. We will talk about how to create a successful software business in Perth from Startup in 2004\, through a few iterations and ups and downs\, to a very successful product based company with clients across Australia.  Paul is a local Maylands resident living and working in this revitalised and vibrant metropolitan district. \nHe has a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering and Information Management\, an Advanced Diploma in Information Technology\, and a Diploma in Business Management. \nWe will chart his journey both personally and professionally and find out what makes a successful entrepreneur\, the drivers and disciplines necessary\, the lessons learned and what he would do differently second time around. \nThere will be plenty of time for Q&A so bring along your questions and get some free advice and help for your own journey. \nRefreshments will be provided to promote discussion and networking amongst attendees after the formal session concludes.

We discuss issues facing startups\, chapters from relevant books and\, in particular\, how the concepts and practices may apply to our startups. Everyone is welcome to attend! \nWhilst we focus on tech startups and founders are our target audience you don’t have to be a founder or involved with a startup to come along. All you need to be is interested in learning about Lean Startup and Customer Development. Startups are defined by their uncertainty (some aspect of their business model has never been used before) and often (but not always) a huge growth potential. As Steve Blank says “are temporary organisations searching for a repeatable and scalable business model.” \nA Lean Startup’s approach is to hypothesise\, build\, measure\, and learn as fast as possible to reduce this uncertainty and risk\, to validate (or not) hypotheses about the product/service and business model. This differs from the traditional approach to startups that usually involves building something and hoping customers will come. \nIf you’d like to catchup briefly to discuss you can schedule a virtual catchup. \nhttps://calendly.com/ashley-aitken/lean-startup \nCheers\,\nAshley Aitken \nOrganiser – Lean Startup Perth
