SUMMARY:Integrating nuclear generation into the Australian electricity grid
DESCRIPTION:The introduction of nuclear power generation is shaping up as a real possibility in Australia.\nMethods of integrating new nuclear generation into a grid with existing coal\, gas\, wind and solar PV generation are discussed with reference to both engineering and economic issues. Identifying feasible long term optimum generation mixes using all generation types beyond 2050 are addressed. Economic analysis focuses on total delivered costs to customers including generation\, storage\, transmission\, distribution\, rooftop solar PV and behind the meter batteries. \nLearning outcomes\n\nhow to develop optimum long term generation mixes of nuclear generation with gas\, coal\, wind\, solar PV and storage to deliver low cost electricity for Australian electricity customers\nhow to utilise nuclear generation to minimise the new build of transmission and distribution networks\nunderstanding the importance of considering total delivered electricity costs to customers including distribution networks\, roof top solar PV and behind the meter batteries.

SUMMARY:EcoHoist: How a Startup Innovation is Making Underground Mine Decarbonisation Affordable
DESCRIPTION:Join CORE Innovation Hub to explore some of the big ideas in the energy and mining sector. \nCORE Connect Conversation Series will see a mixture of guest speakers and panel style events tackle some of the big questions facing the energy and mining sector and explore solutions and pathways to create a bigger and more sustainable future for the energy and mining industry. \nTHIS MONTH: EcoHoist: How a Startup Innovation is Making Underground Mine Decarbonisation Affordable \nThe future of underground mining could be on the verge of a major shift—one that significantly reduces capital costs while improving safety and sustainability. Join us for a conversation with Matthew Forrest\, co-founder and inventor of EcoHoist\, a groundbreaking new hoisting solution designed to offer a far more affordable alternative to traditional skip hoists. \nThough still in development\, EcoHoist is already generating strong interest from Tier 1 mining companies and industrial heavyweights like ABB and MMD\, thanks to its potential to slash infrastructure costs\, eliminate diesel haulage\, and operate entirely on clean electricity. In this session\, Matthew will share the story behind EcoHoist’s rapid rise in industry attention\, the challenges and opportunities of bringing a disruptive technology to market\, and what’s next for this promising innovation. \nIf you’re curious about new mining technologies\, startup scaling\, or the future of underground operations\, this is an event you won’t want to miss. Be part of the conversation and gain early insights into a technology that could reshape the industry.
