DESCRIPTION:The Innovation Seed Fund seeks to build Western Australia’s health and medical innovation pipeline by providing funding to Western Australian innovators to help develop and commercialise novel process\, products and/or services that demonstrate a positive impact on the health and wellbeing of the WA community. \nThe funding will be used to support the validation of inventive concepts\, the feasibility testing of proposed solutions\, and the advancement of developed solutions towards the path of commercialisation within the following categories: \nCategory 1 – Devices\, diagnostic and platforms including digital \nThe innovation is a device or technology that will diagnose\, prevent\, treat and/or monitor a health condition that impacts the people of Western Australia. This includes novel equipment\, digital tools\, and medical implants that aim to improve the safety\, effectiveness\, access\, timeliness and/or cost as compared with existing practice. \nCategory 2 – Therapeutics and vaccines \nThe innovation is a drug\, compound or medical biologic that will detect\, prevent or treat a health condition that impacts the people of Western Australia. DESCRIPTION:Olivia Humphrey spent many years in film distribution at Roadshow Entertainment\, BBC and Austar/Foxtel before founding the independent streaming platform\, Kanopy\, which forged a new channel for streaming films to library members. Olivia boot-strapped the company in 2008 before uprooting her young family away from Perth to move Kanopy’s head office in San Francisco\, USA. She spent the next 7 years scaling the business across North America and into Europe before selling to the private equity firm\, KKR in 2021. Kanopy was listed as one of the top 10 Australian M&A exits that year\, securing the platform as one of the great Australian media-tech success stories. \nOlivia is an Adjunct Professor for Entrepreneurship in Curtin University’s Business and Law Faculty. \nAttendees will gain insights into overcoming imposter syndrome and exploring what it means to lead a meaningful life\, drawing from personal experiences to inspire resilience and purpose in both professional and personal journeys.
