SUMMARY:DEADLINE: AEA Seed Grant Applications
DESCRIPTION:The AEA is designed to build a pipeline from discovery research through to commercialisation\, ensuring Australia reaps the benefits of investment in research within the university sector. \nAEA Seed grants are available to support proof-of-concept projects (Technology Readiness Level 3 to 5). Eligible applicants may apply for grants of between $50\, 000 and $500\, 000 for up to 12 months per project. Applications for the first tranche of Seed Grants opened on Monday 6 February 2023. \nProjects must be aligned with the priorities of the National Reconstruction Fund outlined on the Department of Industry\, Science and Resources website. Priority consideration will be given to projects addressing the four priority areas of: \n\nrenewables and low emissions technologies (e.g.\, hydrogen\, micro-grids\, and lithium/rare-earth elements processing)\nmedical science (e.g.\, synthetic biology\, mRNA vaccines\, and remote medicine)\nvalue-add in resources (e.g.\, provenance of rare earth minerals\, advanced minerals extraction\, data driven mining and mining automation and robotics)\nvalue-add in agriculture\, forestry and fisheries sectors (e.g.\, provenance of product\, digital agriculture\, supply chain transformation and alternative proteins)

SUMMARY:Science on the Swan Conference
DESCRIPTION:In this conference we will highlight the key emerging strategic research strategies and partnerships underpinning and influencing the Western Australian medical health and research sector. \nOne of our partnerships is with the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund\, FHRI\, which is the key mechanism by which the State Government funds health and medical research. This year SOTS 2023 will focus on the FHRI themes of Aboriginal and rural health\, Burden of disease\, COVID and long COVID\, and Mental health. We will also feature some of the state-wide initiatives that WAHTN has been enabling\, including Women’s Health Research\, Mental Health Research and our nationally recognised Consumer and Community Involvement in research Program. \nWe welcome submission of abstracts from junior to senior health and medical researchers\, consumers\, policy makers and funders.
