SUMMARY:Born in WA: Commercialising the Power of the Ocean
DESCRIPTION:Turning WA’s ocean power into commercial reality with Tim Green of WaveX.\nWhat does it take to turn world-class research into technology that can survive the ocean\, attract investment and compete in global energy markets? Join RMBWA and Tim Green of WaveX for a practical conversation about WA innovation\, entrepreneurship\, risk\, leadership and the demanding journey from promising idea to commercial reality.\nWestern Australia has always looked to the ocean for opportunity. Now\, a local company is working to convert the movement of that ocean into reliable\, commercially viable energy. \nTim Green\, Operations Manager at WaveX\, has spent more than 20 years leading complex offshore and maritime projects. Today\, he is helping move Australian wave energy technology beyond modelling and research environments and towards real-world deployment. \nTim will share the realities of taking advanced research into one of the harshest operating environments on earth\, and the leadership required when technology\, capital\, regulators\, partners and physical risk all meet. \nIf you are interested in innovation\, entrepreneurship\, investment\, energy\, business growth or the difficult middle ground between a clever idea and a credible enterprise\, this conversation is for you.

Not only does GreenSpark aim to spotlight high potential solutions throughout the hackathon and award prizes\, we want to identify who in the room has the ambition to commercialise their idea and and grow as innovators with a curated support structure for what comes next – and welcome to the GreenSpark cohort. This cohort has limited capacity\, so every participant gets real access to mentors\, sponsors and the people who can actually move their idea forward. Sign up today to reserve your spot! \nThis Hackathon is open to engineers\, developers\, data scientists\, researchers\, students\, founders and sustainability professionals. SUMMARY:IN:WA Panel - Working Harder\, Not Smarter. Are We Burning Out the Industry?
DESCRIPTION:The next 2026 IN:WA Panelist event lands on Thursday 15th October at Lawson Flats. \n\n\n\n\nA space for independent agency leaders and industry voices to have honest conversations about what’s shaping our sector. Each IN:WA Panel session brings together experienced operators and external perspectives to challenge thinking and spark real discussion. \nOpen to both IN:WA Members and Non-Members alike! Come to connect\, contribute\, and experience the IN:WA community firsthand. \nIN:WA is bringing together industry experts to discuss the topic: Working Harder\, Not Smarter. Are We Burning Out the Industry? \nAsk anyone in agency life how they’re going and you’ll hear some version of “busy.” More channels\, faster turnarounds\, thinner margins\, always-on communication. But is the industry genuinely harder than it used to be\, or are we just running it the same way we always have while the world around it has changed? \nThis panel brings together three perspectives you don’t usually get in the same room: someone who’s lived through decades of industry culture\, someone who’s just entered it\, and someone who sees the clinical patterns across workplaces like these. \nIN:WA provides a united voice for Western-Australian-owned businesses across the breadth of the creative communications industry\, including Advertising\, Branding\, Digital\, Media\, PR and Production.
