DESCRIPTION:Viasat’s signature global STEM competition is coming to Australia \, inviting university and TAFE students across the country to develop new applications of satellite technology that improve life on Earth. Whether your background is in engineering\, computer science\, environmental studies\, business\, or any other discipline — your ideas and perspective matter.\nViasat: Space for Good Australia features three phases over approximately 22 weeks\, progressing from written concept submissions through digital media presentations to an in-person finals event in Sydney in December 2026 — all expenses paid by Viasat. \nThe program is specifically seeking concepts that have concrete impact in one or more of the following 11 focus areas: \n\n1. Equitable and Sustainable Access to Space\n2. Direct to Device (D2D) and IoT\n3. Rural and Remote Digital Empowerment\n4. Space Industry Collaboration (Open Architecture)\n5. Multi-Orbit Constellations\n6. Space Cybersecurity\n7. Sovereign Nations\n8. Disaster and Humanitarian\n9. AI in Space\n10. Data Centers in Space\n11. Lunar Communication\n\nPhase 1 — Concept Submission (6 weeks) Phase 1 is open to all eligible university and TAFE students in Australia. You will answer a series of written questions (each up to 750 words) that explain your high-level “Space for Good” concept — the problem it solves\, the inspiration behind it\, its commercial viability\, and how it connects to Viasat’s capabilities and the broader space sector. \nPrizes: Top three finalists will be awarded prizes. \n\n1st Place: $20\,000 AUD\n2nd Place: $15\,000 AUD\n3rd Place: $10\,000 AUD\n\nLearn more and apply here
