The BARM™ devices have been supplied worldwide to 12 hospitals for trials and evaluation. \nAbout Cortical Dynamics \nCortical Dynamics is developing the Brain Anaesthesia Response Monitor (“BARM™”)\, the next generation medical brain capable of measuring both levels of unconsciousness and pain. \nBARM™ has been developed with the objective of better detecting the effect of anaesthetic agents on brain activity\, aiding anaesthetists to accomplish the fundamental goal of rendering the patient optimally unconscious and immune to pain. BARM™ is based on innovative developments in how the brain’s rhythmic electrical activity\, EEG\, is interpreted and analysed. This approach produces indices directly related to the physiological state of the brain. This medical device is FDA 510 (k)\, CE\, TGA\, Korean MFDS approved. \nNotably\, Cortical Dynamics was awarded funding and commercialisation support through the BioMedTech Horizons (BMTH) accelerator program. Delivered by MTPConnect\, the Australian Government’s $45 million BMTH program was a Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) initiative to support innovative collaborative health technologies\, drive discoveries towards proof-of-concept and commercialisation that address key health challenges as well as maximise entrepreneurship and idea potential. \nAbout our speakers \nAshley Zimpel – Chief Executive Officer \nMr Ashley Zimpel is an experienced public and private company entrepreneur and director. SUMMARY:Webinar: Cultural Licence to Operate in the Blue Economy
DESCRIPTION:Flipping the script for Industry to consider the competitive advantage of working directly alongside First Nations through changing the formula of corporate responsibility in a more legitimised and objective way. \nUnlocking the Blue Economy through an inclusive and equitable approach does not happen by chance.  As governments\, investors\, rightsholders and stakeholders look to the sea as the next economic frontier\, there is a renewed focus on ensuring a balanced approach to developing and managing ocean resources through cross-disciplinary engagement. \nThe presentation and video will explore outcomes from a trans-Tasman scoping project funded to build a Cultural Licence to Operate framework that helps to create the ecosystem for an ethical\, equitable\, dynamic\, and responsive system in which negotiations are customised at place. This Indigenous-led study set out to strengthen the guiding tracks and transparency for shifting out from a transactional way to engage with First Nations through “keeping up an appearance” to building and maintaining a relational way of maximising co-benefits.

This practice is known as social procurement and global spending has surged to around $14 trillion. It matters to consumers too – research shows that despite rising living costs\, 61% of consumers will pay more to an ethical business that has a social impact. \nIn WA\, some businesses are making significant strides in both economic growth and social impact\, tackling issues such as homelessness\, domestic violence\, mental health and employment for marginalised individuals. \nJoin us on Thursday\, June 20\, from 6pm-9pm for our event Buying the Good Stuff: Creating a Marketplace for Social Enterprise\, where WASEC will showcase businesses making a positive impact.
