SUMMARY:Agendo 002: Maxine Minter
DESCRIPTION:“Spectemur Agendo” Let us be judged by our actions. \nOnce the motto of the Karrakatta Club\, formerly housed in these very rooms\, Spectemur Agendo finds a new home at Lawson Flats. Agendo is a new conversation series curated by Lawson Flats member Oliver Bazzani\, bringing together founders\, scientists\, investors and entrepreneurs whose work is shaping the world around us.\n\nFor the September edition\, Oliver Bazzani is joined by Maxine Minter. \nAbout Maxine Minter\n\nAustralia’s first solo female general partner and founder of the country’s first dedicated pre-seed fund. \nHer dedication to early-stage founders comes from lived experience—she’s built and co-founded startups\, invested as an angel in both Australia and the US\, and launched Co Lab to give first-time founders and senior execs access to world-class coaches. \nShe’s studied and taught at places like Stanford\, Macquarie\, Oxford\, and Copenhagen\, but it’s her work side-by-side with founders that defines her. Maxine is known for her conviction at the earliest stage and her relentless support of the people building generational companies. \n\n\n—\nDoors & Happy Hour from 5.00PMConversation 6.00PMDrinks & canapés from 7.00PM

SUMMARY:Decarbonising Heat: Making Thermal Energy Storage Work for Industry
DESCRIPTION:Industrial heat is one of the most significant and challenging areas of energy decarbonisation across APAC. Thermal Energy Storage (TES) offers an opportunity to electrify process heat while maintaining reliable thermal supply\, shifting electricity consumption to periods of renewable availability and reducing exposure to peak electricity prices and demand. \n\n\nThis LDES Council webinar will bring together industrial energy users\, industry associations\, TES technology providers\, project developers\, investors and policymakers to explore how TES can work commercially across sectors including steel\, cement\, aluminium\, food & beverage\, FMCG and other process industries. \n\n\nFeaturing real-world projects and member case studies\, the session will focus on what industry needs\, where TES is commercially viable today\, what business models are emerging\, and how customers and solution providers can connect to develop projects across APAC. \n\n\nJoin us to explore the opportunities\, hear from industry and technology leaders\, and identify potential partners for the next generation of industrial heat projects.

SUMMARY:Morning Startup Presentation: What it really takes to keep a small tech company alive
DESCRIPTION:Morning Startup Presentation: \nBrendan and Liz Wright\, the husband-and-wife team behind Joondalup-based CommunityToGo\, have pivoted again and again. In the early 2010s\, when apps were still a novelty\, they delivered over 150 of them to schools\, clubs\, churches and community groups\, before realising their customers weren’t really buying an app at all; they were trying to drive change. That insight sparked the first of many reinventions\, leading to their current focus on AI. \nExpect candid lessons on finding the real problem behind your product\, knowing when to pivot\, running a business as a couple\, and staying relevant as the technology shifts underneath you. \nAbout our speakers: \nBrendan Wright is the newly appointed General Manager of ALT USA\, the United States business unit of Aquatic Leisure Technologies (ALT)\, and previously its Digital Transformation Lead. With more than 30 years in ICT\, including over 15 years with global vendors such as Oracle and SAP\, he has been involved in startups since 2013\, including four years as Co-Founder and Managing Director of CommunityToGo. \nLiz Wright is the Lead Developer at CommunityToGo and the builder behind the business\, turning ideas into working products. Most recently she designed and built Coaches-Coach Sports\, a multi-sport AI coaching platform delivered in partnership with Bevo Sports\, using AI-assisted development to deliver in months what once took a full team. She’s also an accomplished watercolour painter who brings an artist’s eye for clean\, simple design to her tech work.
