SUMMARY:From Lab to Launch: Ablano's Nanomaterials in the New Space Economy
DESCRIPTION:Discover how WA-developed nanomaterials are moving from the laboratory into real-world space missions\, with Ablano and leading researchers.\nJoin WA Space Forum and Ablano for an inside look at the development and first spaceflight demonstration of Ablano’s boron nitride nanomaterial. \nRecently launched aboard a suborbital rocket from northern Sweden\, experimental panels coated with different concentrations of the material travelled to an altitude of 270 kilometres\, spending approximately six and a half minutes above the Kármán line before being recovered near Kiruna. \nThe panels have now returned to Australia for analysis at The University of Western Australia\, providing researchers with real-world data on how the material performs through the extreme conditions of launch and atmospheric descent. \nHear directly from the team behind the technology about the science of boron nitride nanomaterials\, how the flight experiment was developed\, what they hope to learn from the returned samples\, and the potential applications for more durable\, lightweight spacecraft and reusable launch systems. \nThe discussion will also explore the broader opportunity for Australian-developed advanced materials to become part of the global space supply chain.

SUMMARY:Enhancing productivity of Australian food and agriculture through value-added processing
DESCRIPTION:Australia’s agricultural industries have remained internationally through continuous innovation resulting from joint industry- and government-funding as well as the willingness of Australian farmers to adopt new innovations. However\, Australia’s agricultural and food sectors increasingly face declining rates of profitability growth\, rising costs\, volatile markets\, and vulnerable supply chains. Diversifying revenue streams through value-added processing is a business imperative\, and a matter of national economic security. \nGlobal demand for sustainable\, high-value food\, materials and energy creates a unique opportunity. By leveraging our strengths\, Australia has the potential to generate economic\, environmental and social benefits positioning us at the forefront of the global bioeconomy. \nIn the third webinar in ATSE’s Beyond the Bite series\, we will hear from experts on how we can support the innovation system across the agricultural and food sectors to increase productivity\, profitability\, and sustainability.
