AUSMURI supports the development of fundamental and basic research to strengthen Australian university research capacity, skills, and global networks in fields of priority for future Defence capabilities.

AUD$1 million per year for 3 years, for a team of <6 researchers (inc at least 1x US-based university)

Two topics currently open:

“𝐁𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐎𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐂𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥” – development of the theoretical and empirical foundations for a training approach that will produce increases in individual attention control skill sufficient to improve performance across a broad range of cognitive tasks and reduce the distraction-based impacts of stress and fatigue on cognitive performance.

“𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐦 𝐄𝐫𝐫𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧” – to discover novel and more efficient Quantum Error Correction codes using quantum control techniques, both fundamentally derived and data driven. Advance the state of control theory by investigating novel control problems in error correction of quantum systems.
