DEADLINE: WA Near-miss Awards: Ideas Grants 2023-24

The WA Near-miss Awards is a Program of the Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund.

The WANMA Ideas Grants program targets researchers who narrowly missed out on securing a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) grant, which is considered a critical career milestone for researchers.

The Program aims to provide funding to eligible early- and mid-career researchers to enhance areas of their NHMRC Ideas Grants 2023 applications that have been identified through the NHMRC peer review process as being improvable.

The WANMA Ideas Grants program is open to Western Australian health and medical researchers who missed out or received a near-miss result in the 2023 NHMRC Ideas Grants funding round, with a minimum score of 4.5 (equivalent to a category 5 score). The applicant must be eligible to, and agree to resubmitting their near-miss application to a future NHMRC grant round.

Successful researchers will be awarded funding of $100,000 (ex GST) to undertake health and medical research for a period of 12 months.
