World Nuclear Energy Day 2026 – December 2nd – Webinar

2 December @ 9:00 am - 11:00 am AWST

Showcasing Nuclear Energy in Australia and Around the Globe

World Nuclear Energy Day 2026 — Australia

In Australia, nuclear energy remains the subject of significant technological, economic, environmental and policy discussion. World Nuclear Energy Day 2026 provides an opportunity to look beyond established technologies, examine what is emerging internationally, hear different perspectives and consider how continuing innovation may shape the future of nuclear energy, in Australia and around the world.

Meet Australian experts in nuclear technology as they share their ideas, perspectives and predictions on where nuclear innovation is heading. From an innovation perspective, nuclear energy is an important technology to watch. The sector continues to evolve through new technologies and constant improvements to existing ones. Innovations range from Small Modular Reactors (SMRs), microreactors and Molten Salt Reactors (MSRs) to fast reactors, advanced and accident-tolerant fuels, new fuel cycles and materials, artificial intelligence, robotics and advanced manufacturing. Beyond fission, major research and investment continue in nuclear fusion, while emerging reactor technologies are opening possibilities beyond electricity generation, including industrial heat and hydrogen production.

Against this rapidly changing technological landscape, Innovate Australia once again proudly serves as an Ambassador for World Nuclear Energy Day. In 2026, we mark the sixth time the event is celebrated in Australia, bringing together industry leaders, researchers, innovators and other stakeholders to discuss advances in nuclear technology and its potential applications.
